Though it may sometimes seem that celebs live on an entirely different planet than the rest of us, there are some milestones that remain pretty universal.
That actually seemed like an understatement for the adorableness that ensued when Kate Beckinsale and ex-partner Michael Sheen found out that their daughter Lily Beckinsale had been accepted to college.
The former couple (who recreated Lily’s birth pic in a hilarious Instagram post earlier this year) is still friends after all these years, and celebrated Lily’s big accomplishment together as a family, as Kate showed us via Instagram.

“The appropriate fatherly response when you find out your girl got into college: Burst into tears, drop everything, rush over and pick up everyone even remotely involved,” she wrote.
Showcasing Michael lifting Lily up off her feet as he gazes lovingly into her eyes and Kate jumping into his arms, the scene is so cute we can hardly stand it.
What a lucky young woman Lily is to have not only two loving parents, but two split-up parents that get on so well with one another, convention be darned.
