Apparently, the rats DON'T run this city.

Sorry 'Ratatouille' Fans, Josh O'Connor Won't Be Starring In A Live-Action Remake

Ever since Josh O'Connor broke into the cultural consciousness in this year's Challengers, and the internet realized he looks exactly like Linguine from Disney Pixar's Ratatouille, fans have been calling for the Knives Out 3 actor to join a live-action remake. If you ask me, it makes perfect sense. Josh has fantastic physical comedy, but he also possesses an earnestness the role would require. Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter finally weighed in on those live-action Ratatouille rumors...just not with the answer we were hoping for.

When asked whether we'd finally see Josh O'Connor as Linguine, Pete Docter told Time he's not a huge fan of live-action remakes. “This might bite me in the butt for saying it, but it sort of bothers me,” he says. “I like making movies that are original and unique to themselves. To remake it, it’s not very interesting to me personally.”

Not only is it a new story, but a live-action version of this story in particular would require the audience to watch CGI rats...TBH, that doesn't sound very appealing. "So much of what we create only works because of the rules of the [animated] world," Pete Docter adds.

So, unfortunately, not only are we not getting a live-action Ratatouille, but we also won't see Up, The Incredibles, or Inside Out.

"So if you have a human walk into a house that floats, your mind goes, 'Wait a second. Hold on. Houses are super heavy. How are balloons lifting the house?'" he says. "But if you have a cartoon guy and he stands there in the house, you go, 'Okay, I'll buy it.' The worlds that we’ve built just don’t translate very easily."

That being said, we're still in for an incredible line-up from Pixar! Pete Docter revealed to Entertainment Weekly that there's an Inside Out TV show coming to Disney+, as well as Toy Story 5.
