Robin Wright Wants to Return for the “Wonder Woman” Sequel

Fans of this year’s runaway smash hit Wonder Woman were over the moon this summer to learn that a sequel is already in the works. At the moment, we don’t know much about the next installment of the newly minted franchise, besides that it’ll be helmed (like the first) by Patty Jenkins, and that star Gal Gadot will reprise her role as Diana Prince. But Robin Wright — who played Diana’s Aunt General Antiope and was one of the highlights of the movie — would love to be involved.
(Spoilers ahead!)
Though Wright’s character died during one of the first battles in the movie, her character was accidentally confirmed (along with Diana’s mother, Hippolyta, played by Connie Nielsen) for the upcoming Justice League movie, with some speculating that she will appear in flashbacks or be resurrected. Either way, Wright is down for more WW.
“Oh, absolutely I’d go back and do a sequel,” the actress said in an interview with E! News to promote her upcoming movie, Blade Runner 2049. “For sure! Come on. Girl power!”
As for whether the cast and crew of Wonder Woman knew how successful the movie would be, Wright said that while they didn’t know for sure, they “had a hunch” that it would be a hit.
We’ll have to wait a while to see what happens in the sequel, so for now, any talk of Antiope’s return is just hopeful speculation about one of the coolest action stars we never knew we needed.
