Here's what Taylor Swift tells herself when she feels overwhelmed by life. Pretty good advice if you ask me!
Taylor Swift has the perfect "coping mechanism" for when she's overwhelmed.
It's no surprise that Swifties and non-Swifties alike have a lot of thoughts on Taylor Swift's life, career, and choices. And when it feels like all of those different opinions are closing in, she goes “through several processes and coping mechanisms that I’ve gone through over the years. And one of them is saying, ‘You chose this. You chose this every day. You could have opted out of this any day before it got unmanageably big.’ And I decided not to because I love it that much.”
Period. And I do mean that literally because she adds, “that’s just where it begins and where it ends.”
That is such a great reminder that we're in control of our lives — and in shaping what we actually want our lives to look like. I've realized that as long as I'm prioritizing what I really want, I'm willing to put up with quite a lot to get there. Keep your eyes on the prize y'all, it's not over 'til it's over.
And she still loves music more than anything.
I've always known that the most important thing to Taylor Swift is making music (she's said as much herself), and she reiterates that “everything that comes with this ultimately is worth it as long as I get to still make music."
Based on the insane positive reception to her work (the Eras Tour passed $2 billion globally FYI, and 9 out of 10 of her most popular songs on Spotify as I'm writing this have passed a billion streams). “I realized that I’m making music because I’m playing for the fans,” she continues. “I’m putting this out for people who care about it and who look to music as a way to cope with their life in the way that I did.”
And even though "no one taught me how to” be a relatable songwriter and magnetic performer, “I had to be taught how to entertain the crowd and learn choreography, and be less annoying, and navigate the industry, and fiercely protect my own sanity," Taylor Swift says. "I had to learn all of that over time through difficult lessons, and massive amounts of trial and error, and chaos, and calamity.”
