Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! was the crime spoof-comedy that started it all, following the incompetent Detective Frank Drebin (played by the late Leslie Nielsen) as he attempts to prevent an assassination attempt on Queen Elizabeth II. The movie had a stacked cast, including Priscilla Presley, George Kennedy, and O.J. Simpson.

At the helm is Liam Neeson, portraying Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., or the son of the OG Frank Drebin. The fresh take chronicles Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. as he follows in his father's footsteps to lead the Police Squad, solve a murder case, and "save the world."
He's joined by Pamela Anderson as Beth, a character who fits the femme fatale trope. She visits the Police Squad to get help following her brother's murder.
This comedic role marks a departure from Pamela's latest performance in The Last Showgirl, but she claimed her character development process remained the same despite the genre switch.

"It is the same depth of process for a high comedy as it is for a drama. I worked hard on the role, another cathartic experience. Every film, it seems, tackles a deep-seated issue that needs to be expressed and surfaced in ways other than anything else," she explained to Entertainment Weekly.
Plus, Pamela revealed that she and Liam Neeson had obvious chemistry that was "clear from the start," calling him an inspiring, true gentleman who's a "legend" and "deserving of the title."
Who's directing the 'The Naked Gun' reboot?

Akiva Schaffer (Saturday Night Live) is directing the film, and some footage shared at CinemaCon alluded to the sexual tension between characters Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. and Beth. Akiva also wrote the script with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, the screenwriters behind Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers. Additionally, Erica Huggins and Seth MacFarlane are producers for the reboot.
