Stop Everything: Amazon’s Alexa Will Soon Be Able to Make Voice and Video Calls
Alexa recently made some big strides when Amazon announced the Echo Look, your personal digital stylist. But the tech giant wasn’t done yet. They’ve actually done it. They’ve answered one of the BIGGEST requests Alexa users have: making phone calls with your Echo. There’s even a new device on its way that will enable video calls as well!
Meet the Echo Show ($230), the latest device in the Echo lineup that boasts a large screen perfect for video calls, YouTube tutorials, checking your security cameras, and more. The best part? It’s all hands-free. You can just say “Alexa, call Mom” or “Alexa, answer the call” to connect with your friends and family. Staying in touch with your friends and fam will never be easier, which is mostly a good thing ;)
You can even “drop in” on people, which is to make a video call without the other person having to pick up — just like if you were to physically drop in on someone. Don’t worry; no one can drop in on you without your permission, and you can also disable video on your end if you want. You can also choose which devices in your house have “Drop In” enabled.
But in case you’re not looking to upgrade, you can use your Echo, Echo Dot, or Echo Show to call or message any contact who also has the free Alexa App or devices — which is still pretty dang cool.
You can preorder the Echo Show now!
