Paris Hilton Has Gone Brunette and Our World Is Upside Down

For as long as we can remember, Paris Hilton (AKA the master of early aughts fashion) has been synonymous with her long blonde tresses. We identify her with her flaxen hair color so much that we actually had to do a double take at the Instagram video the businesswoman just debuted on Instagram exhibiting a foray into the dark side.

“#Brunetteshavefuntoo,” the 36-year-old (see Kim K’s touching b-day post to her here) wrote of her new look, which she showed off from several angles on Instagram, including a stint as a cheetah, one with a crown made of other brunette Paris icons, and a glasses-clad… are those mouse ears?

Honestly? We’re LOVING this look. We got another glimpse of it on Snapchat where she tried out several more filters, and paired with the wispy bangs that go along with it, we can hardly believe the transformation: Anyone else getting Helena Christensen vibes, or just us?

Here’s to hoping that, unlike the wigs she’s tried in the past (you may recall her shopping spree as a brunette back in 2012 or the wig she wore on My New BFF (remember that show!?), this may be the real deal and here to stay: We could definitely get used to it!

Festival season is here and summer is shortly on its way, so and to me that signals that it's time to get funky with your hairchoices! Whether it be some fun braids ornew cuts, you can try them all! But my personal favorite has to be dying your hair.... temporarily of course! Growing up I've never taken the plunge and fully dyed my hair, but I always loved to play around with temporary dye as a way to feel the fun change...but not dye my hair pink forever on a late night whim (I would not advise anyone to try this — we all saw what happened in that Gilmore Girlsepisode). So if you're getting that drastic decision itch but don't want to fully take the plunge then we'd recommend these fun styles that the experts say you'll love!

How long does temporary hair dye last?

Temporary hair dye should only last a week or a couple weeks at max depending on how often you wash your hair. On the Sally Beauty website, it says, "Temporary hair color does not penetrate the cortex or the hair. Instead, it coats the outside of the hair shaft with color that washes out in one or two shampoos." So just a couple of washes and there you have it; your hair is as good as new!

Licorice Red

This is one of the most popular styles at the moment with so many celebrities donning this style. One of my favorites has to be Dua Lipa with this shade of bright licorice red that looks fab on her! I would recommend this color if you have darker undertones because it would compliment the red in such a beautiful way. Light Pink Highlights

This color is so much fun for festival season because you don't have to commit to doing your whole hair, you can simply dye a few sections lightly to give off a highlighted look. Hair expert and colorist, Andrea Cottin from The Hairstyle Review, says, "If you’re looking to change up your hair without commitment, temporary color can be an excellent option. One of my favorite brands is Good Dye Young who carries a product called “I’m Bored” and lasts 2-6 washes. To apply, simply emulsify and apply to freshly washed hair in sections and then blow dry." It't that simple!

Andrea also says, "It comes in lots of colors and my personal favorite is pink as it has been trending in the salon. Another option is by Brite. It’s 100% compostable, and gentle on your hair. It’s applied like a conditioning mask and lasts 5-30 washes. This might be a better choice for those who want a bit more longevity without committing to a permanent color." You heard it here first, folks! Pink is going to be the color of the season!

Root Touch-Up Brown

Did you know that if you're in a pinch and can't make it to the salon for a root touch-up that you can get temporary dye to fix up your roots? You just spray directly onto your roots for a nice touch-up to get a natural look like Lucy Hale above! Hair expert Marcy Cona, Global Creative Director at Clairol says, "Root Touch-Up Spray (Temporary): Recently, TikTok users have discovered that using root touch-up sprays are not only beneficial for gray coverage, but can also be used as a fun and easy way to transform your hair to try out a different shade temporarily. Rose Gold Hue

This is a new development for me as I'm just finding out that you can dye your hair rose gold! Don't mind me sprinting to Ulta ASAP to grab the Kristen Ess Rose Gold Tinting Spray. This new color is sure to be your next summer and festival staple and I bet all the girlies will be asking you where you got it! Bonus? It washes right out so you don't have to worry about the color lingering post-festival season when you're back at your 9-5.

We've seen ginger and copper-toned hair take the world by complete storm! I may be biased but as a fellow ginger myself, I think that gingers have the most fun! This Abercrombie dress might be one of my favorites on this list because of the stunning yet sexy detail on the lace on the ends. I think it would be styled perfectly for a night out or dinner with black pumps and a red lip!

I love this stark white, and have seen it circulating the internet heavily as of late. It's definitely a fun way to try a new style and go bold! Giselle Go, Cofounder of DAMDAM

The former editor in chief of Harper's Bazaar Singapore (the youngest to hold the title at just 26) turned skincare entrepreneur is Philippine-born and sought to build a clean skincare brand as an ode to the Japanese culture she loved and respected so deeply. Lin Chen, Founder of Pink Moon

Fiona founded Youthforia from the ground up while living in Hong Kong during the pandemic. An econ major who worked in business development for a software startup, she found that frequent travel to China was hard on her skin. She founded Youthforia, a makeup brand made famous on TikTok, uses plant-based ingredients and functions like skincare you can sleep in!

Rachel and Jiyoon Han, Founders of Bean & Bean Coffee

Not only did this mother daughter duo found Bean & Bean, but they're both certified Q graders (or coffee sommeliers)! The brand first got their start in 2008, after Jiyoon's parents immigrated from South Korea and opened the first ever roastery in Queens, NY. They're focused on ethically-sourced product, supply chain transparency, and Female Equity in Coffee.

Farah Jesani, Founder of One Stripe Chai

A daughter of South Asian immigrants, Farah Jesani started her career in NYC's corporate world. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a business degree and moved to NYC to work in the corporate world. Ming Yi and Ching Yeh Chen, Founders Of Pearl River Mart

Jennifer Tsay, Co-Founder & CEO of Shoott

Before Clar Ngai launched BONBONWHIMS, she moved to the U.S. at the age of 19 to study journalism. From there, she's been working in the fashion industry for the past 10 years. Her experience with the digital and influencer aspects of fashion have come in handy because BONBONWHIMS speaks to several generations with its Y2K appeal.

It was during the pandemic that she began creating the bones of BONBONWHIMS to fuel her own passion and raise awareness for BIPOC organizations like Stop AAPI Hate.

Since its creation, BONBONWHIMS has been featured on stars like Megan Thee Stallion and Demi Lovato.

I love sappy, sweet-as-candy rom-coms. You know, the ones where two leads spend the entire movie pursuing other people only to realize they were in love with each other the whole time. The movie usually takes place in a big city or a small town (and sometimes both), there's a quirky best friend, and there's always a big declaration of love before the credits roll. And while these straightforward movies are always on my watchlist, I also love the wacky movies that involve hilarious misunderstandings, ridiculous fight scenes, and gravity-defying Dirty Dancing movies (yes, I'm talking about Emma Stone & Ryan Gosling'sCrazy Stupid Love here). Humor always makes a movie even more enjoyable to watch, and A Family Affair is as wacky as they come. The movie reunites Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron, who played opposite each other ten years ago, and this time, Joey King's added into the mix. Like any good rom com, A Family Affair is all about a surprising romance — just not the kind Zara might be hoping for. When her mother (Nicole Kidman) and her famous actor boss (Zac Efron) fall for each other, their newfound relationship complicates everyone's ideas of sex and identity, and Zara's entire life. And, just like you might expect when your boss and mother hook up, chaotic hilarity ensues.

A family affair refers to a situation that's connected to someone's family in one way or another. For me, being an adult has been all about establishing work-life balance, and I'm sure the same is true for Zara. I can't wait to see how this movie's unexpected romance turns everything upside down.

Before they were cast in A Family Affair, Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman played lovers in The Paperboy in 2012. Familiarity and comfort are two super important things in any romantic role, and I can already tell from these first look images that Zac and Nicole not only have awesome chemistry, but they're comfortable enough around each other to just have fun. And that's all we can ask for from a good movie!
