5 Best Apps of the Week: An App That Guarantees You’ll Never Be Catfished + More!
As far as weekends go, this three-day one is certainly packed. Not only is it Galentine’s Day on Saturday, Valentine’s Day on Sunday and Presidents’ Day on Monday but this weekend also falls right in the heart of New York Fashion Week (have you seen our Busy Girl Guide to NYFW yet?). But the love of the smartphone app must prevail, so here are the best apps of the week. We’ve got an app that matches you with a friend for life, an app spearheaded by MTV’s Catfish‘s Nev Schulman and more! Check it all out below.
KnowMe
This buzzy new video-making social app features MTV’s Catfish‘s host Nev Schulman as its ambassador. It’s certainly fun to use and all it takes is a simple tap to record video messages to friends. It’s also easy to edit your clips, upload vids to your feed for your friends and gain followers. KnowMe does exactly what the name suggests; it lets other people know the gal in the video is really you.DL It: Free on iOS
2. Quartz: The uber popular news site has finally landed in the App Store — and it has certainly chosen to do so in a way that’s never been seen before. You can actually text your questions to the app and Quartz will respond directly, rather than just displaying the articles for you.

3. Describe: Describe allows you to record yourself describing whatever is in your photo. Think of it as a live caption. You can edit the clips and share them to your feed. Then your friends can scroll through and watch your vids… or not. It’s like Instagram but better!

4. RendezWho: This nifty new app pairs you up with a stranger somewhere on the planet but doesn’t reveal any details (to know gender and age, you have to pay $4.99). Every day, you and your mysterious friend each answer one question the app gives you. You can also send each other GIFs and songs via Spotify. The idea is that over time you’ll get to know your friend and maybe even get the opportunity to meet someday.

5. Ameego: Ameego wants you to make friends anywhere and everywhere you go so you always have a local guide no matter where you end up. The app hooks you up with fellow Ameegos (who you can optionally tip if you choose to hang out with them) and they show you around their home town.
