When you finally master your everyday morning makeup routine, you feel quite accomplished (especially if the AM prep is done in five minutes flat)! But unless you’re using a setting spray to help lock your product in place, you may notice that midday, your makeup starts looking a little less than flawless. Who has time to break to reapply an entire face of makeup though? For days that you need to power through and remain fresh faced for that EOD meeting, happy hour drinks with your girlfriends or a dinner date, these three super simple steps that you can do right at your desk are all you need for a quick pick-me-up.
Step 1: Hydrate Your Complexion
Start your pick-me-up routine by spritzing on a hydrating face spray. I’m a huge fan of the Fig and Yarrow Complexion Water in Rose, Sandalwood, Neroli ($42): The scent is uplifting and the mist comes out so fine that it absorbs perfectly over your makeup, adding moisture to your skin without rinsing it all off. Give your face a spray or two and inhale + exhale the aromas and cool mist. Your skin will feel instantly refreshed and your soul will be happy you took a moment to just breathe!
Step 2: Stipple Dewy Skin
Before the light mist dries fully, take a Beautyblender Sponge ($20) and gently stipple — or lightly tap — the tool directly over your makeup. This will help the water penetrate into your skin and rejuvenate your already applied makeup, giving your skin a radiant, dewy effect.
Step 3: Hit It With a Pop of Color
The quickest way to bring life back to your skin is to get a pop of pink on your cheeks. I don’t know about you, but that is the first to go on my face. I swear my face eats my blush! Apply a quick retouch of your favorite hue on the apples of your cheeks.
Done in the amount of time it takes you to check a few emails, but with an even bigger bonus. Taking that five minutes of “me time” will also allow you a much-needed reset as well, which will make you way more productive and efficient for the remainder of your day. Thanks, makeup ;)
