2015 has been a major year for hair color — and we don’t just mean highlights and ombré. We’ve seen creative trends like sand art hair, opal hair and oil slick hair go mainstream. And while the recent colder months seemed to bring a halt to the constantly trending rainbow hair craze, it looks like it’s back in a big way. Introducing: moonstone hair.
The look seems to have been coined by Holly Neufeld, a stylist at Parlour 363 in Canada. Similar to the second generation of rainbow hair that’s emerged recently, it includes a slew of different colors with a sort of a reverse ombré effect happening, with the roots showing lighter than the ends.
If you’re looking to find a way to rock rainbow hair in a way that doesn’t exactly scream summer, this could be a great trend to try. Full of cool shades and fine details, it’d be a surefire way to add a little bit of excitement to the grayest time of the year.
