Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story may have wrapped up its story over a year ago, but fans still aren’t over it. The Netflix prequel was released as a limited series, but there’s been some buzz lately that a second season of the show could be in the works. Of course, Netflix hasn’t confirmed anything, but that hasn’t stopped people from speculating or hoping for more. Here's what we know so far about the potential for a new season of Queen Charlotte!

Scroll to find out everything you need to know about those swirling Queen Charlotte season 2 rumors!

Will there be a 'Queen Charlotte' season 2?

Netflix hasn't made any official announcements about Queen Charlotte season 2, but there are certainly plenty of rumors flying around about a sophomore season. And in Brit + Co's exclusive My Oxford Year interview, Corey Mylchreest told us he only just found out about the rumors himself.

"It was at the Tudum [presentation] that I found out that there were any [season 2] rumors," he says, "which was news to me."

"The rumors were started by me," Sofia Carson jokes.

"Really, I wish that I could say anything or know anything, but I really don't, unfortunately," he says. Only time will tell whether we get to see a young Charlotte and George onscreen together again!

The rumors started when Adjoa Andoh, who plays Lady Danbury, spoke at the Global Series Festival in Italy. Town & Country initially wrote that Deadline reported Adjoah mentioned being involved in another season of Queen Charlotte, which immediately caught attention.

Town & Country quoted Deadline, writing, "Andoh is also set to appear in Season 2 of spin-off series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. She didn’t reveal details of the show’s second run when quizzed, but instead praised Rhimes’ writing, noting how she had added Queen Charlotte to the Bridgerton universe and made her Black despite the TV character not existing in Julia Quinn’s book series."

However, it seems like Deadline may have amended their story, per fans on Reddit. Still, some outlets took it as a confirmation. Others were more cautious, pointing out that she didn’t give any concrete details. So now, fans have been left wondering whether she accidentally let something slip or if it was just taken out of context. Either way, it got people talking and rewatching.

To be fair, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if the show did return. It was marketed as a one-season story, but the characters left a real impression. A lot of people are still talking about Lady Danbury’s past, Violet Bridgerton’s journey with grief, and Charlotte and George’s complicated relationship. There’s plenty left to explore, and viewers are clearly still invested. Fans have even started sharing ideas online about what they'd want to see next, from deeper dives into Danbury’s younger years to how Charlotte continues to rule as her family grows.

That said, Shonda Rhimes has been pretty open about how she approaches storytelling. She has stated she’s not interested in making sequels or second seasons unless there’s an actual story worth telling. For her, it’s not about fan service or stretching a show just because it was successful. So even if conversations are happening behind the scenes, she’s likely taking her time before committing to anything.

When would 'Queen Charlotte' season 2 come out?

If a second season is in the works, it probably won’t be hitting our screens anytime soon. With Bridgerton season 4 already underway, it would be a while before another Queen Charlotte chapter could even start filming. Realistically, fans might have to wait at least another year or two.

So, where does that leave us? Right now, it’s all up in the air. Adjoa’s comment may have been a hint, or maybe it was just a moment that got blown out of proportion. Either way, fans are hopeful. The world of Queen Charlotte made a lasting impression, and if the team behind it finds a story worth telling, there’s a good chance we’ll see it again.

Until then, rewatching season 1 might be the closest thing we have to answers, and the perfect excuse to fall back into that world all over again. This is definitely a must-watch.
