Calling all Disney fanatics: we need to discuss this brilliant Tarzan live-action fan cast shared by CoveredGeekly on Instagram. Now, I know what you’re all thinking: Another live-action Disney Remake? After all the controversy surrounding the now-notorious live-action Snow White? Isn’t it about time for Disney to hang up its hat with these revivals and focus its energy on original content instead?
While I totally agree we’re in desperate need of more original storylines from the wonderful world of Disney and other filmmakers, I am of the divisive opinion that some of these live-action reboots are straight-up cinematic masterpieces. They’re few and far between, don’t get me wrong. But have y’all seen the 2015 Cinderella live-action remake? I went into that movie thinking it was going to be a total bust, with one thought on my mind: “Cash Grab.” But, as it turns out, this reboot ended up striking such a chord with me that I honestly consider the Cinderella live-action remake one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time. Heck, I am a grown adult woman, but I still shamelessly listen to that score whenever I want to feel something.
With this in mind, I’m still holding onto hope that Disney has it within them to produce another genuinely artistic and moving live-action remake. Perhaps Tarzan is its next contender? Honestly, with this fan cast in mind, it just might be…
Here’s who should totally star in the (unconfirmed) live-action Tarzan.
1. Brenton Thwaites as Tarzan

Aussie actor Brenton Thwaites was practically born to play Tarzan- as well as every other Disney role, ever, of all time (just look at those doe eyes)! Thwaites’s claim to fame began while starring in Aussie films and television roles, yet his career reached worldwide success once he reached American audiences as well, in films like Pirates of the Caribbean and Maleficent. With his handsome looks and cinematic charm, we believe the 35-year-old actor from down under would make the perfect Tarzan.
2. Lily Collins as Jane

Okay, this one’s practically a no-brainer, for several reasons. For one, Lily Collins’ dad, Phil Collins, is the musical genius behind the original Tarzan soundtrack. Furthermore, the Emily in Paris star just welcomed her daughter into the world via surrogate, and gave her the middle name "Jane." Is this a reference to Tarzan? If so, that’s too cute to be true.
But on top of it all, Lily Collins simply has the charisma and beauty of the animated character, and we think she’d do a world of justice to this role. Disney, you hear us? Sign this woman up to play Jane, immediately!
3. Jason Isaacs as Clayton

So whoever came up with the idea of casting Jason Isaacs as the evil antagonist, Clayton, deserves some kind of award. Isaacs has proved himself to be the master of portraying questionable characters, as we’ve seen in both the Harry Potter series and as Tim Ratliff on The White Lotus. Plus, he and Clayton have a similar chin. They’re practically twinning.
4. Sarah Jessica Parker as Kala

You guys. How adorable would it be to have Sarah Jessica Parker portray Kala in the live-action Tarzan remake? We all know her as the beloved yet gritty Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City, but there’s always been something so warm and maternal about the actress. Perhaps it’s because she is a mother of three IRL, but we think she’d be stellar for the role of the gorilla who adopts Tarzan.
5. Mark Rylance as Archimedes Q. Porter

Mark Rylance (who you'll recognize from amazing titles like Dunkirk and Bridge of Spies) would be an amazing choice for Jane's father, Archimedes Q. Porter. Not only does he have the same witty curiosity but I just know he'd get along with Lily Collins swimmingly.
