'The Beast in Me' Trailer: Claire Danes' New Netflix Thriller Will Hold You Over Until 'Dept. Q' Season 2

Who’s ready for a new Netflix mini series with Homeland veterans Claire Danes and Howard Gordon? If I could raise three hands, I would.
The streaming platform is dropping a highly-anticipated upcoming thriller that will star Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys, created by Howard Gordon. Yet instead of being a Homeland extension series, The Beast in Me will follow an entirely different storyline with a whole new set of characters and settings. With that being said, based on the premise alone, the upcoming Netflix show will supply the same level of angst we’ve experienced from Gordon’s breakout series (and the crime thriller of it all will definitely hold you over until Dept. Q season 2). And I, for one, cannot wait.
Here's everything you need to know about The Beast in Me, coming to Netflix soon.
What is the plot of The Beast in Me?
In The Beast In Me, Claire Danes will be exchanging her CIA badge for a typewriter, as she’s playing a well-established author who's dealing with a serious case of writer’s block. Yet in Danes’s case, her character’s inability to write has a pretty solid excuse — her son has recently passed away, and she doesn’t have it within herself to go back to the art form that once made her so happy.
Everything changes when a new man moves next door, aka Matthew Rhys’s character, Nile Jarvis. Jarvis is no ordinary neighbor. He is described by The Hollywood Reporter as “a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance.”
Instead of Danes’s character running for the hills, she can’t help but find herself leaning in to Jarvis, with a desperate desire to uncover his mysterious past. Despite his allegedly dangerous ways, Danes has finally found a muse for her artwork. Now, she is able to write again, with her suspicious neighbor as the inspiration for her literary prose.
But despite her newfound interest in the murder-suspect mogul, she’s playing a dangerous game, and she knows it. Her twisted relationship (if you could call it that) with Nile Jarvis morphs into the ultimate “cat and mouse” scenario, where lives are at stake. How much peril is she willing to put herself through for the sake of her artistry? And just why is she so very drawn to a potential killer?
