2 Ways to DIY Colored Mascara + 6 Ways To Rock It

Colored mascara is everywhere these days, and it’s also SOLD OUT everywhere, or at least it was when I went out to try and see what the big fuss was. Truth: This was a blessing in disguise for all of us! I was determined to achieve colorful fluttering lashes without the actual product. So what’s a gal to do when she can’t buy? Yup, DIY! And that’s exactly what you can do after scrolling through.

?). Plus, an added bonus for skipping the It product of the moment (besides saving some dough) is that you’re not bound to the bottled up color — you can totally customize the hue. All you need is a mascara primer (which also doubles as an eyelash enhancer, btw) and either eyeshadow pigment or colored liquid eyeliner. But we’ll show you how to play with both.

Primer + Liquid Eyeliner Hack Step 1: Apply Mascara Primer

Apply a few coats of the your choice of mascara primer — I am using MAC Prep + Prime Mascara ($16). Not only will this pump up your lashes, creating a more voluminous hold, but it will also help the pigments really pop on your lashes.

Pick your choice of colored liquid eyeliner and then just paint it on your lashes! This step may seem a little intimidating, but it is actually a lot easier than you think: just use the brush at the end of the wand to paint over the tops and bottoms of your primed eyelashes.

Step 2: Apply Colored Liquid Eyeliner

: If you have darker hair, the brighter the liner color — like the vibrant

($3) I’m wearing — the more it will show up on your dark lashes. Or, for a more subtle take on the trend, use a deep blue shade like the Wet ‘n’ Wild Mega Liner Liquid Eyeliner in Indigo Blue ($3) I used on Alexis (you miiiight catch a few of us rocking this blue lash look to work). If you have lighter hair and features, both of these hues will stand out like whoa.

Wand + Loose Pigment Hack

Step 1: Pour Out Pigment

Roll your mascara primer around in the pigment to lap up all that color. Once it’s fully covered, gently tap the brush on your hand to make sure any loose powder falls onto the sheet instead of onto your face.

Step 2: Add Pigment To Mascara Wand

Apply your new colored mascara to your lashes like normal. To get the most coverage, start the wand at the base of your lashes and gently wiggle back and forth until you reach the ends of your eyelashes. You can do more coats of primer to set your makeup if you like, but be sure to rinse the wand completely by running it under lukewarm water first. You don’t want any of the colored pigment to get inside the tube of prep mascara.

Step 3: Apply Pigmented Primer

lot

a look on someone with darker hair like me, but on a blonde like Lisa, the MAC Cosmetics Pigment in Chartreuse ($21) looked more like an amped-up version of her lighter lashes. When we used MAC Cosmetics Pigment in Violet Frost ($21) on Lisa, the results were totally ethereal — and we imagine the results would be just as dreamy on darker-haired girls. We could picture Lisa wearing this look to a spring wedding with a messy down-‘do, or out on a dinner date where those lashes would shimmer in candlelight. On Alexis, MAC Cosmetics Pigment in Genuine Orange ($21) looked just plain rad. Pro tip: if you’re not sure about committing to an entire vial of a pigment, you can always ask for a sample. And hopefully these six examples will help you get a head start on the color(s) that are meant for you! #Obsessed

Need an outfit for an upcoming wedding? How about a beach-front dinner? Or tropical destination vacation? Well this one clothing item can take you to all those places and more — slip dresses. They're tried and true, timeless and stylish, and functional and fashionable. And hey, Carrie Bradshaw boldly rocked one, very classically coined "the naked dress."

If you've seen the return of the naked dress trend, you're not alone. Even Sex and the City's Kristin Davis posted a cheeky little throwback of herself in a slip dress to "relive trends." And while the current dresses aren't that different from their predecessors, slip dresses really do come in so many different styles. From your typical black satin slip dress to a fun halter, blue slip, here are my favorite options for staying on trend now — and when it inevitably comes back around again. 😉

As if surprise dropping an extra 15 songs for The Tortured Poets Departmentwasn't enough, Taylor Swift fans are getting another new song this summer thanks to Gracie Abrams' new album The Secret of Us. The Eras Tour opener revealed the collaboration when she dropped her album track list May 13, and needless to say, the internet went crazy. The song will be released with the full album on June 21, 2024.

"Us. Feat @taylorswift," Gracie Abrams said in an Instagram story. "All I can tell you for now is that some of the most fun I've ever had in my whole entire life was writing this song together. Hands down. I am currently smiling and sweating thinking about it and I'll never get over the shock of seeing this one on the tracklist. You know how I feel."

Taylor Swift has been teasing "Us" since the release of TTPD thanks to a notebook with "Us" written across it — both at the library installation and in the "Fortnight" music video.

Gracie Abrams has talked about how much she loves Taylor Swift throughout her entire career, and the two quickly became friends! Gracie showed up to Taylor's birthday, and even got to sing her hit song "I Miss You, I'm Sorry" with Taylor during the Eras Tour after her opening set got canceled during the July 1 show in Cincinnati, Ohio.

“My set was canceled for safety reasons,” Gracie says on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. “Then Taylor texted me being like, ‘Hey, come out with me and do ‘I Miss You, I’m Sorry?” We ran it one time in her room and then did it there. I blacked out.”

“It’s a real masterclass to watch her do what she does,” she continues. “I felt like I was at college for this job. I watched every single one of her shows that I was lucky enough to open. I watched from every place possible in each stadium, just trying to pick up on how she’s able to do what she does.”

Are you excited for the new Gracie Abrams x Taylor Swift collab? I love Gracie's new song "Risk" so I can't wait to hear "Us"!
