Would You Eat Gin-Flavored Cheese?
As you prep for all your holiday gatherings, cheese boards and cocktails will surely be on your hosting menus. Thanks to British cheesemaker Cheshire Cheese Company, however, you can get both in one shot, thanks to their brand new varietal of — wait for it — Gin and Lemon Cheshire Cheese (roughly $7)!
Described as “a gentle balance of slightly sweetened lemon pieces [harmonizing] with the slight acidity… of Creamy Cheshire,” this creamy blend infuses a bit of gin for a “melt to the mouth sensation.”
As odd as it may seem, people are either super intrigued or into the combo. It took home the bronze at the International Cheese Awards this year, and both the individual and the six-pack (roughly $29) are already sold out. Guess we’ll have to wait for the next batch to arrive… and for the next time we’re in the UK, since the company unfortunately doesn’t ship to the US. Sigh.
Not into gin? No problem. The company also makes an Irish Whiskey & Stem Ginger cheese, a Strawberries, Cream, and Champagne Heart cheese, and an Old Hag Wincle Ale & Mustard Cheddar (all roughly $7).
