Victoria Beckham has pretty much become as well known for her #goals-worthy partnership with hubby David Beckham as she is for having been in the Spice Girls. Though she made the decision NOT to join the pop group’s recent reunion, she has remained very public about her commitment to her husband and family, which is no small undertaking for a woman also busy continuing to build her fashion empire.

The pair have spent almost 18 years (!) projecting the image of a super in-love and supportive couple, and from what we saw of their son Brooklyn’s (now-over) relationship with Chloë Grace Moretz, it seems they’ve passed on those loving and respectful values to their kids. But, of course, it takes work to maintain a successful marriage, and outside of their “inventive” date nights, David has dished on what exactly keeps the two so close.

On a recent appearance on BBC Radio 4 show “Desert Island Discs,” David revealed that he and Victoria renewed their wedding vows in a tiny, private ceremony — a more intimate celebration of their family than their massive original wedding for sure.

But it isn’t all romantic gestures that keep a marriage strong — David credits both his and Victoria’s families and the family they built together as important parts of their partnership.

“We’re a strong family unit,” he said. “We’ve got strong parents, we were brought up with the right values. Of course you make mistakes over the years, and we all know marriage is difficult at times. And it’s about working through it. We’ve come up against tough times. We know each other better than anybody knows us. We talk. We have amazing children.”

While David’s interview does give good insight into happy coupledom, it also makes clear that there’s no single secret puzzle piece, and of course, no one thing will work for everyone — you have to put in the work no matter what. What IS for sure is that these two are low-key the cutest celeb couple forever.
