Something just launched on Facebook and it’s a game changer. Yeah, social media platforms have new updates on a weekly (daily?) basis like no more squares on Insta, political candidate donations on Twitter, and crazy overlays for your Snapchat selfies, but what FB debuted today will totally transform your News Feed. Starting today you can view 360 videos on your News Feed, yeah you’re gonna want to check this out.
Wednesday, Facebook announced 360 Video, a new feature where users can explore videos in a virtual reality-like experience directly in their News Feed by panning around the scenery while playing a video through hand gestures and tilts of the screen. Available today on desktops and Android devices (with iOS functions coming soon), you’ll be able to feel fully immersed in media videos as well as your friend’s visual uploads. It’s kinda like taking the fear out of FOMO ;)
Some brands that have already shared their own 360-degree vids are Disney with a Star Wars short film, some BTS footage from SNL‘s 40th Anniversary Special, motocross riding from a GoPro POV, a LeBron James’ training session and more. Check ’em all out on the 360 Video Facebook page to get inspo for your own 360 vid ideas.
We’re so excited to see how this new FB video capturing feature will transform the content on the social media platform. Who knows, maybe you’ll be able to further explore our tabletop tutorials before long…
