Who doesn鈥檛 love unwinding after a long day with a nice glass of red wine? It鈥檚 the perfect tool to take the edge off, relax a bit, pump up a spa night or hey, even cook. But what no one likes is feeling like they have to burn off all those calories the next day. And now, according聽to a study聽conducted by聽the University of Alberta, it turns out you might not have to.

The study has found that the health benefits in resveratrol, the compound found in red wine聽already said to have heart and health boosts, are equivalent to those we get from an hour of exercise.


Yup, you read that right. A glass of wine = an hour at the gym, and we鈥檙e not talking about running on the treadmill. We鈥檙e talking a full on glass of the sauce can聽replace your workout sesh. Just let that sink in for a minute. It鈥檚 okay if you need to go grab a drink聽to cheers the discovery.


Lead researcher聽Jason Dyck told My Daily that these findings could help those who want to exercise, but can鈥檛 because of existing medical or health conditions. The resveratrol could even potentially mimic exercise for these individuals, improving the effects of the minimal amounts of exercise they can accomplish.
