My favorite thrillers involve plot twists so shocking, they literally cause me to gasp in utter disbelief...and potentially spill my popcorn everywhere. Since the whole point of a thriller is to, you know, provide thrills, it’s important that this genre keeps viewers on their toes. And to be totally honest, the recent thriller shows that have come out in the past handful of years just seem to have lost their bite. I’m just not experiencing that roller coaster of emotions that I’m supposed to feel when it comes to this high-stakes genre.
So when I heard that the creator of Bodyguard (one of my favorite thrillers), Jed Mercurio, was teaming up again with lead actor Richard Madden for a new thriller show on Netflix, I was instantly hooked. Finally, a thriller to look forward to! But what’s the new Netflix series, Trinity, about? Here's what we know so far!

What is Netflix’s 'Trinity' about?
According to the logline, Trinity is about “A heroic female Naval Officer becomes involved with the outwardly charismatic Secretary of Defense, only to discover he may be at the heart of a dangerous conspiracy.”
Based on this synopsis alone, I already know we’re in for a ride of shocking twists, turns, and betrayal. Richard Madden, who portrays the Secretary of Defense, is utterly perfect for the role of the ultimate charmer with a web of dark secrets beneath the surface. He’s certainly got the “charming” part down to a tee, as we’ve seen in his portrayal as Robb Stark on Game of Thrones, as well as Sergeant David Budd on Bodyguard. Plus, he even portrayed Prince Charming in the live-action Cinderella! If anyone is destined for the role, it’s Madden, yet it will be interesting to uncover the harrowing truths bubbling underneath his outwardly lovable surface.
Meanwhile, Gugu Mbathu-Raw blew me away with her nuanced and heartbreaking portrayal of Hannah Shoenfeld on The Morning Show, so I will be first in line to watch anything she’s in. As a huge fan of both lead actors, as well as Jed Mercurio’s BTS work, I’m already at the edge of my seat as I wait eagerly for the series to premiere on Netflix!

When does 'Trinity' premiere?
Audiences are going to have to wait patiently for the highly anticipated new thriller series, as it looks like the official release date for Trinity has yet to be announced. What we do know is that the thriller will consist of eight episodes, likely to come out in 2026.
