The automated sprinkler isn’t anything new. In fact, we’ve probably all been burned (or soaked, as the case may be) by an automatic sprinkler or two on our way to a nice dinner, big interview, or first date. But, what if you could control that finicky watering system from your phone? Welcome to Lono, a gadget that might just change your lawn.
Once Lono is hooked up to your sprinklers, the games begin. It syncs with your phone allowing you to turn your sprinklers on and off from your phone, no matter where you are. Make adjustments when you’re out of town, or mess with your little brother when he’s crashing at your house ;)
The snooze feature has to be our favorite. If you’re having a barbecue and don’t want the sprinklers to go off in the middle of your epic corn on the cob, simply hit snooze and the Lono will delay watering for a day. This is also might handy if a big rain comes in. Who wants to waste water when you’ve got the natural stuff?
Speaking of which, the Lono claims to cut water usage by 20-70 percent, which is better for the environment and your wallet. Win!
Here’s a pretty hilarious video from the founder of Lono on how it works, and how his family feels about it ;)
All in all, this latest gadget for the automated home gets a hearty thumbs up from Brit + Co. We just wish we had a lawn here at HQ to test it out!
A pledge of $125 on Kickstarter gets you an early bird Lono system as soon as March 2014.
