Meet the Parents, a comedy movie series fans know and love, is set to release its fourth film this year. Actor Owen Wilson, alongside Ben Stiller (I'm still laughing at his Happy Gilmore 2 return), Robert De Niro, and Teri Polo, are set to star, and popstar Ariana Grande is making her debut in the Meet the Parents-verse. Grande had major success in Wicked, which was nominated for several Oscars this season. Fans are excited to see her step into more upcoming projects, such as the sequel to Wicked, which is also set to release this month. And the popstar just gave us an update on Focker In-Law that I totally wasn't expecting.

Who is Ariana Grande playing in Meet the Parents 4?

Ariana Grande is playing a character named Olivia Jones, and she recently revealed on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast that aspects of the new movie are actually pretty difficult.

“I don't know if I'm allowed to say this, but I have to say it because you're gonna laugh your a—s off — my character's a triathlete," Grande revealed. “I spent yesterday doing burpees and high knees with Robert De Niro. And he's like, ‘Good job, Olivia. Good job.’ And it's like, the craziest, the most humiliating man. I'm like, 'What is this movie? What are we doing?' But I'm having a blast. It's like it's really special...There's also a lot of biking in this movie.”

“I feel like I'm on the set of the Avengers," Grande continued.

There isn't much information about the plot yet, but the general premise will remain similar.

The original Meet the Parents follows Greg Focker (Stiller) and his girlfriend Pam (Polo) as they go to her sister's wedding, an opportunity for Greg to meet her parents. While there, he attempts to gain their love but screws up his entire plan, in the utmost comedic sense, of course. Eventually, her father comes around, and they form a wonderful bond. The sequel, Meet the Fockers, is structured similarly, except Pam travels to meet Greg's family this time. The third film, Little Fockers, follows Greg and Pam on their journey throughout newfound parenthood.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that "one story point revolves around the son of Stiller and Polo's characters, who gets engaged to a ball-busting woman who seems all wrong for him. Grande will play the fiancée."

It's been over a decade since the last movie within the series, and Stiller believes it is time to revisit the franchise, according to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

"I think what spurred the idea was that at this point, I'm the age that Bob [De Niro] was when we did the first movie," he explained. "And there was this sort of mirror to the first film in terms of the fact that my kids are grown. And, yeah, that my kid, one of my kids, is thinking about introducing his person to the family."
