When you think Game of Thrones, you don’t often think EPIC. LOVE. STORY. But amidst the political turmoil, the action and gore, there have been a few poignant romances that were so heartfelt and so tragic, it makes our collective hearts weep. Namely, the tale of our girl Daenerys, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, and her beloved Khal.

When Dany lost not only her baby but also her husband in the brutal end of season one, it set her off on a path (toward the Iron Throne, we hope!) in becoming the powerful ruler she is in season six. However, despite all that our queen has accomplished, she’s never forgotten her true love. Adorably, Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo, has been cheering on his on-screen lady love via Instagram all through season six. And now, based off the actor’s Instagram, there have been some serious hints that the great Khal might be returning for the show’s seventh and final season.

Momoa, who is also playing Marvel’s Aquaman for a 2018 sure-to-be blockbuster, was recently spotted in Dublin with GoT showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff as they knocked back a few pints of Guinness. While, sure, he could just be on vacay and wanted to hit up his old bosses, a likelier story is that our man Drogo might be planning a return to the screen.

Another telling clue that this might be the case is that Jason, like all of us, tuned in to GoT for the last season religiously and even posted about it, captioning one pic of the premiere “See u soon.” And guess what?? That photo has been DELETED. Dun dun dun! We might be grasping at straws here, but maybe he deleted the posts in order to not give anything away…?

While Drogo died in season one, he has made an appearance in a later season in the form of a vision to Dany. Perhaps, in the last season, as Dany faces her greatest challenge yet — fighting for the throne over the Seven Kingdoms — her one true love will return in a dream or vision to help her? Oh, my sun and my stars, moon of my life, we can only hope that we’ll get to see the couple reunite on screen!

Do you hope to see Khal Drogo return? If so, tweet us @BritandCo!
