According to Deadline, author Lauren Roberts will be an executive producer alongside Daphne Ferraro, who was the head writer on the first season of Maxton Hall — and you know how we feel about Maxton Hall! We're sure this is gonna be fantastic!
What is Powerless the book about?

Powerless takes place in the kingdom of Ilya, where the Elites rule over the people with their powers. They hunt those without powers, like Paedyn Gray, an Ordinary who makes her living as a thief. She keeps herself concealed as much as possible, especially after the King had her father executed.
But when she accidentally ends up saving the life of Prince Kai, the King's second son, she's placed in the Purging Trials, a fierce competition that promises riches and glory if you survive it.
Soon enough, the Prince and Paedyn begin to recognize their attraction to one another, which further complicates the whole situation. There is a lot of angst and yearning. After all, what could be more dramatic than forbidden love?

So, is Powerless worth reading, or should you just leave it on the shelf? It's action-packed and magical, but it doesn't have too much spice. Powerless was Roberts' debut YA novel, and it spent 19 weeks at number one on the New York Times Young Adult Bestsellers' List.
Its popularity was given a boost by TikTok's BookTok and YouTube's BookTube. In its first nine months of publication, it sold over one million copies. The novel is meant to be a slow burn, with tensions between the prince and Paedyn building throughout the book.
So, while you're eagerly waiting for the Powerless adaptation to be filmed and released on Prime Video, you might as well keep yourself busy by reading the trilogy. It'll definitely turn into your newest obsession.
