We’ve all heard of anti-aging products for your skin, but what about your hair? (Even Kim Zolicak-Biermann just admitted she’s 95 percent gray!) And aging doesn’t just turn your hair gray; it can also make it dull, frizzy, and dry. In short? Even your locks need some preventative TLC. Kenra Professional just released a line meant to protect your tresses against the ravages of time, and it’s got a rather unexpected main ingredient: snail slime.
The haircare has introduced the Snail Anti-Aging Collection ($18-25), which uses “snail essence.” If you’re a K-beauty fanatic, you’ve probably already heard of snail slime’s benefits for skin. The natural protein derived from the creature’s goo helps to smooth and soften skin, and the same idea applies here. The essence works to fill in cracks in your hair, and prevents breakage.
But not to worry — you won’t be hurting any snails by stealing their magic: It’s a byproduct found in escargot farms that’s repurposed solely for hair and skin.
Available in a shampoo and conditioner (both $18, sold in high-end salons) as well as a Platinum Snail CC Crème ($25), it’s made without parabens or sulfates, with the crème to be applied to dry or damp hair.
Hey, it can’t be any weirder than adding beer to our tresses. Worth a shot, maybe?
