This Might Be the Spice Girls’ Next Project
There’s been a lot of speculation about what the Spice Girls might be up to these days, from a possible tour to a rumored performance at the royal wedding, but it looks like the girl group might be about to launch a project that no one *ever* expected.
According to a report from Variety, the Spice Girls may be the focus of a new animated film that would feature a strong “girl power” message, with Scary, Sporty, Baby, Ginger, and Posh as superheroes. According to the report, all five members of the group have agreed to allow their likenesses to be used for the film, which means we would see animated versions of Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), and Geri Horner (née Halliwell, Ginger Spice).
The project is apparently being shopped around to potential production partners at the moment, but the group’s manager, Simon Fuller, declined to comment on the group’s future plans.
While an animated film might seem out of the blue, it actually would make sense for the women, who all lead very busy lives. A project like this would make it much easier to accommodate each woman’s individual schedule, especially compared to something like a reunion tour.
As for possible superhero outfits, there’s definitely plenty of inspiration in the Spice Girls’ “Say You’ll Be There” video. Just putting it out there.
