Starbucks Is Going to Be Stocking Some Very Pretty Italian Pastries Soon
Nothing goes better with a hot latte than a fresh-out-of-the-oven pastry, and probably no one understands that more than Starbucks. It looks like the coffee powerhouse is cookin’ up some change: Soon, you’ll be greeted by the aroma of baking bread when you enter Starbucks Reserve Roastery locations.
Starbucks’s CEO announced that the brand will collaborate with boutique Italian bakery, Princi, an artisan bread maker with a penchant for baking slowly, freshly, and authentically. Eventually, all Starbucks Reserve Roastery locations will house mini Princi bakeries.
Currently, the bakery has seven locations in London and Milan, but this partnership with Starbucks will bring their delicious goods across the pond.
Menu items will include “flaky cornetti…focaccia sandwiches filled with salame Milano and mozzarella di bufala [and] crostata fragola,” along with a bevy of other authentic Italian pastries baked fresh daily in whopping in-store ovens.
So far, the Starbucks x Princi collab is only available in Seattle’s Starbucks Reserve Roastery. For those of us who don’t live in the birthplace of the green mermaid, we’ll have to wait a wee bit longer before we can pick up a side of sourdough with our coffee. Shanghai is next on the list, followed by Milan, NYC, Chicago, and Tokyo Reserve locations.
