If you鈥檙e obsessed with TheSkimm (and, let鈥檚 be honest, who isn鈥檛 glued to their app?), you鈥檝e probably pictured their Flatiron District offices in New York as a hotbed of #girlboss vibes 鈥 and you鈥檇 be right. But it hasn鈥檛 always been the case. Not so long ago, the workspace for the current events newsletter was in dire need of a major upgrade. TheSkimm partnered with home furnishing etailer Hayneedle to give the entire office the lift it deserves, and the result is striking. A smart mix of playful touches and thoughtful features imbue the workspace with everything you鈥檇 expect from TheSkimm: It鈥檚 welcoming and accessible, but feels like the home of your cool, in-the-loop best friend. (Oh, did we mention it鈥檚 all shoppable too?)

The brand鈥檚 signature teal makes a bold and bright appearance throughout the offices, lending an energizing pop to each zone. 鈥淥ur headquarters鈥 aesthetic is simple, bright, and comfortable,鈥 says Carly Zakin, co-founder of theSkimm. 鈥淲e focused on finding pieces that were evocative of the brand and pieces we鈥檇 feel comfortable putting in our own homes.鈥

Working with a large, open footprint, 鈥渢he challenge for us was converting the huge space into something that felt familiar and inviting 鈥 like the living room where theSkimm started,鈥 notes Zakin.

That鈥檚 where Hayneedle came in. 鈥淲e knew from the start that we wanted to work with brands that specialize in home decor instead of traditional office furniture,鈥 says cofounder Danielle Weisberg. In that spirit, couches make an appearance in many of the common areas, keeping the vibe less office-y and more informal.

Hayneedle-exclusive dining tables serve many purposes in TheSkimm鈥檚 offices, subbing in for desks, conference tables, and other casual gathering spaces. The effect, Weisberg notes, is much warmer than most workspaces: 鈥淲e were careful in selecting furniture that never felt too 鈥榗orporate.'鈥

Wall-to-wall wine racks bring a bit of added texture into this conference room, and make it a go-to destination for happy hour. (Having a wine room is very on-brand for TheSkimm, but why doesn鈥檛 every office have this?!)

And although teal is TheSkimm鈥檚 signature, they never shy away from incorporating other bright hues as well. This helps each zone stay clearly defined within the larger space, a key factor for a busy office. (And a major perk for color-lovers like us!)
