Ingredients:

— 2 pounds 90/10 ground beef

— Colby Jack and Cheddar cheeses

— salt

— pepper

— lettuce

— hickory smoked bacon

— cherry tomatoes

— grilled onion

— pickles

Tools:

— stainless steel skillet

— wood skewers

Instructions:

1. Roll the ground beef into small meatball-sized portions (should be slightly smaller than a golf ball).

2. Heat a stainless steel skillet over medium heat, then when the pan is hot, add canola oil. Place the ground beef bites into the skillet, sprinkle with salt and pepper and flip when the edges start to brown.

3. Cook until the meat has reached medium doneness (155 degrees), then top with a small, one-inch by one-inch slice of cheese. Cover the skillet with foil to help the cheese melt.

4. Once the cheese has melted, remove the burger bites from the skillet and set aside to rest.

5. Assemble the skewers as a deconstructed burger with your favorite toppings (could be lettuce, cherry tomatoes, grilled onion, spinach, pickles or bacon). Slide the skewer through the burger bite first, then place toppings on the rest of the skewer.

6.  Dip in mustard, ketchup or Sriracha mayo and chow down on some awesome, adorable burger bites with all your Labor Day party guests!
