10 Brilliant Lessons We Learned From Teach Me Something New

Brit Morin Teach Me Something New Podcast

Thanks to Brit's endless curiosity about just about everything, we've learned so much from her podcast, Teach Me Something New. Seasons one and two had so many amazing insights from inspirational guests that included entrepreneurs, actors, chefs, psychologists, and more, so we thought we'd recap some of our favorite learnings for you. Oh, and it's never too late to go back and binge the episodes you missed before season three drops in January 2021.

Acting for Everyday Life with Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher

Brit kicked off the very first episode of Teach Me Something New with one of Hollywood's favorite couples, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. They helped translate a number of acting tricks into skills we can put into practice everyday, whether as parents, at work, and beyond. One such lesson you'll want to hear more about is how Ashton encourages us to suspend our own self-judgment so it doesn't get in the way of showing up as our authentic selves in everything we do.

Boobs and Bras with ThirdLove's Heidi Zak

Heidi Zak has revolutionized the bra industry with ThirdLove by expanding undergarment sizing to be inclusive of 80 different sizes, half-sizes included. On this episode, she breaks down the perfect bra fit (which spoiler, is when your bra is snug while fastened on the loosest hook and only allows for one finger to fit under the band), the life cycle of a bra (9 to 12 months if you wear it almost daily), and how many bras you should actually own (most women own about 10 but only wear one to two).

Cooking 101 with Rachael Ray

Rachael Ray's approachable cooking style takes the intimidation factor out of the kitchen and has inspired a whole generation of at-home chefs. In this episode, she teaches us the most essential kitchen tools and gadgets for different dietary preferences (e.g. a cast-iron skillet is a must-have for meat eaters), how to make meal prep faster, and the trick for getting kids to eat their veggies. One tip is that kids should be in the kitchen and/or grocery shopping with you from just about infancy so they see food and experience the collaborative aspect of cooking. By simply allowing them to pick a color in the produce aisle to help you shop, they feel invested in the food from the time they begin speaking. Rachael also recommends making a mess in the kitchen to let kids see the beauty and the joy of providing for one's self and their family.

Living Authentically with Glennon Doyle

Activist, philanthropist, and New York Times best-selling author Glennon Doyle knows what it takes to break the mold of what the world wants you to be to live out your true purpose. In this episode, she teaches us how to tap back into our curiosity, hunger, and desire to live more authentically. She also shares how somewhere between the ages of 7 and 12, we all start to internalize social norms and conditioning based on how we're supposed to behave if we're a girl, a Christian, an American, etc. Once we start to recognize all the messages we've been internalizing since birth, we can more readily dismantle patriarchal norms and rediscover our true selves.

Therapy 101 with Lori Gottlieb

While we've made great strides as a society to be more willing to talk about therapy, there's still plenty of stigma and misconceptions around the topic. That's why psychotherapist Lori Gottlieb joined the podcast to teach us about the benefits of therapy. She also explains the difference between idiot compassion, which is what most friends do (you're right! that's terrible!), and wise compassion, which is what therapists do. "We hold up a mirror and help you see something about yourself that maybe you haven't been willing or able to see and that's the part that's so important," says Gottlieb.

Meditation with Light Watkins

With 20 years of meditation experience, Light Watkins was the perfect guest to teach us the ins and outs of meditation and how it can benefit us all. In the episode, he stressed the importance of building meditation into your daily routine, like brushing your teeth. He tells Brit and Anj, "Meditation brings a level of awareness that allows you to see more connections, read the room better, and see cause and effect better which will pay off in business, in relationships, even understanding yourself and what you're going through."

Interior Design and Aesthetics with Justina Blakeney

Designer Justina Blakeney is a Jill-of-all-trades creative known for her bold, bohemian style. She joined the podcast to share how you, too, can identify your signature aesthetic (hint: Pinterest boards are key!) and what interior design rules are meant to be broken. One guiding question you should ask yourself as you embark on an interior design project is what activity do you want the room to facilitate? Is it a place you want to read, sleep in, home school your kid in...? Pinpointing the functionality you need from a space will help guide your design choices.

Women's Health with Dr. Kenosha Gleaton

We all have pressing, sometimes embarrassing health Qs we'd only feel comfortable asking a doctor or our closest girlfriend. Luckily, Dr. Gleaton, who's board certified in gynecology and obstetrics, stopped by Teach Me Something New to field all of our personal health questions and shared her knowledge on how we can be more proactive and preventative when it comes to our health, and got real with us on yeast infections, kegels, and more TMI/taboo topics.

The Psychology of Shopping with Rent The Runway's Jenn Hyman

Jenn Hyman has a decade worth of data points about the way we shop, making this episode a must-listen if you're nostalgic for the mall or simply a bonafide style lover. One of the more interesting nuggets she shared is about how Rent The Runway has helped debunked a lot of trend myths, like the one that says New Yorkers are obsessed with all-black-everything. Turns out, when there's access to a more sustainable clothing system like RTR, women actually gravitate toward a lot more prints and color.

Social Media with Instagram's Adam Mosseri

Ever wonder what it takes to run one of the largest social media platforms in the world? That's just part of what Instagram's Adam Mosseri teaches on his episode of Teach Me Something New. He also shares how he applies what he terms "design thinking" to everyday problems. "Design thinking is structured problem solving. Be super clear about what your intention is and about what the different ways of accomplishing that intention might be, and then evaluate the trade offs and iterate through them."

We are still haunted by the fact that Gossip Girl is over (even the reboot 😩), but at least we can still hear from our fave group of Upper East Siders.

Podcrushed, a podcast hosted by Penn Badgley, Nava Kavelin, and Sophie Ansari, welcomed actor Adam Brody on their most recent episode. Brody, whom you may know from The O.C., Shazam! and Fleishman is in Trouble, also happens to be married to Leighton Meester, AKA the one and only Blair Waldorf, Badgley’s former Gossip Girl castmate — and the couple just had the cutest date night!

Leighton Meester and Adam Brody were most recently seen at the 2024 SAG Awards! They stunned on the red carpet with Leighton in a brown satin dress and Adam rocking a navy suit. Both Adam and Leighton were absolutely glowing!

Funny enough, GG characters Dan Humphrey and Blair Waldorf have a brief fling in the show, and Badgley and Brody share a striking resemblance to one another, which Badgley jokes about during the episode.

www.instagram.com

PODCRUSHED on Instagram: "How old were you when you found out Adam and Penn were two different people?"

Brody admits he was “smitten instantly” with his now-wife after seeing her and the rest of the GG cast come through Canter’s, a Los Angeles deli Brody frequented.

www.instagram.com

PODCRUSHED on Instagram: "This week Adam Brody stops by and wins the group over with his endless trove of middle school stories. Adam gets passionate explaining his take on marriage, and shares why he’s the happiest he’s ever been (link in stories)."

The duo didn’t date until several years after their first introduction, but Brody was certainly crushing on Meester, despite her remaining "elusive" and "aloof." His recounting of their love story goes against everything that Meester’s shared about their relationship's origin, but Brody stands by it — and apparently has receipts. 👀

"I couldn't get a total read because, even though she professes to have been interested in me and all those things, not only did she not pursue that, I mean, she was perfectly willing to let that never happen,” Brody added. "Yeah, she was perfectly willing to let that message in the bottle return to sea at several points.”

Awww! We absolutely love seeing people in love – I mean, it’s just so precious. Hopefully we’ll see more of Brody and Meester together, and hear more from Badgley in the future — we’ll definitely keep an eye out for all things You!

My S.O. will probably tell you that I randomly belt out, "Baby you're a firework" several times a day because I can't get enough of the way Katy Perryactively encourages people to b their full selves. It's something she strives to do in her career and personal life as evidenced by her public relationship with the actor Orlando Bloom. Yes, the same man who deliciously played Legolas in The Lord of the Rings and Will Turner in The Pirates of the Caribbean.

Now that I'm done catching my breath, it's recently occurred to me that these two are still in the wedding planning stage despite getting engaged all the way back in 2019. I'm certainly not knocking it, but I thought it'd be fun to revisit their relationship timeline to see how their love story began. Let's get into all things Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom!

Katy Perry And Orlando Bloom's Relationship Timeline

Image via Amy Sussman/Getty Images

January 2016

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom met in 2016 while attending an afterparty once the Golden Globes ended. Per People, the “Firework” singer bonded with an American Idol contestant and excitedly shared how her paths crossed with Orlando. “So I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs and all of a sudden I see my boyfriend’s hand — he wasn’t even sitting at our table — he just swoops in and he grabs it and I was like, ‘Hey that my burger,’” she recalled.

Orlando later revealed a little more about that moment when talking to The Times in 2018. He revealed he wasn’t really aware of her work before meeting her.

February 2016

Things apparently went well for the two because Orlando didn’t waste time introducing Katy to he and Miranda Kerr’s son Flynn. A source revealed to Peoplethat the two attended the birthday party of Robert Downey, Jr.'s son at the time.

"They were laughing, playing music and joking around with Flynn...Katy looked very comfortable at the kids party," according to the source.

May 2016

Right before the summer of 2016, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom announced their relationship via Instagram. As evidenced by her caption, “We cannes’t,” the couple were enjoying the bliss of being in Cannes, France at the time.

August 2016

One half of this lovely duo was spotted in the nude during another vacation and it’s an understatement to say the pics went viral. While Katy chose to don a bikini, Orlando decided to let loose — literally — and those sneaky paparazzi captured him in all of his glory.

He told Elle UK in 2017, “We’d been completely alone for five days. Nothing around us. There was no way anyone could get anything. So I had a moment of feeling free.”

February 2017

Sadly the couple broke up in 2017 and this caused their reps to release a statement to People in order to control any narratives that may have stemmed from it. “Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand, we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time,” the statement said.

Two sources gave different reasons for their split, but E! News reported that an insider said, "...they did discuss a future together during their relationship. They had an enormous amount of love for one another."

Despite their breakup, Orlando Bloom insisted there wasn't anything horrible about their breakup in his Elle UKinterview. "It's good. We're all grown-up. She happens to be someone who is very visible, but I don't think anybody cares what I'm up to. Nor should they. It's between us. It's better to set an example for kids and show that [break-ups] don't have to be about hate"

April 2018

Time does heal wounds in some instances because Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom were seen spending more time together again. The singer shared an Instagram photo of them greeting Pope Francis and showing their support for The Cura Foundation with her fans.

September 2018

By the fall of 2018, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom were definitely an item again. They appeared on their first red carpet together at The Global Ocean Gala and looked stunning. Elle even reported the two took a picture with Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco.

December 2018

In a hilarious turn of events, Katy Perry found herself winning a date with Orlando Bloom after she outbid an eager fan during the One Love Malibu Festival charity auction. A fan account on Instagram shared a video of the Katy saying, "You can do a motorcycle ride with him to a lunch destination to have lunch with Orlando freaking Bloom. That also means that when you are on the motorcycle with him you’re holding him in a way that I am not excited about."

Honestly, same Katy.

February 2019

The pair must've joyfully rang in the New Year in 2019 because they Katy happily took to Instagram to give fans a close-up look at her engagement ring from Orlando. She wrote, "full bloom" as her caption so there was no mistaking that she and Orlando were taking their relationship to the next step.

Katy opened up about how his proposal went when she appeared on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp a few months later. "It was Valentine's Day...[Orlando]'s, like, clean-shaven. He's not wearing tennis shoes. I was like 'Ah, sh*t, something is going down,'" she happily shared.

March 2019

They moved in together right after getting engaged and this seemed to work better for everyone. A source told People, "Since they are engaged, it was just a natural step for them to live together."

June 2019

It wasn't long before people began wondering what Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's wedding plans were, but the two have never been in a rush to walk down the aisle. Instead, Katy had this to say during an appearance on KISS Breakfast With Tom & Daisy: "One step at a time. Definitely trying to lay the good emotional foundation for the lifetime of commitment, which is like a big deal"

August 2019

Orlando shared Katy's sentiments and reiterated them when he stopped by the Today show in 2019. He told Willie Geist, "It’s important to me that we are aligned — I’ve been married and divorced and I don’t want to do it again..."

December 2019

While the couple were never in a rush to have a wedding, they ultimately decided to push things back as reported by US Weekly. A source told the outlet, "They changed the timing due to the location they want," and that makes sense. Planning a wedding often involves making sure venues, caterers, and more will be available during the time a couple is thinking about getting married.

February 2020

Things carried on as usual for the couple with Katy sharing a snapshot of the two on Instagram a couple of months later. They were celebrating a year of being engaged and her caption reads, "one year ago I said yes to a life of love and evolution... and definitely never a dull moment 😜."

March 2020

The next month is when Katy Perry revealed that she and Orlando were expecting their first baby together! She shared a brief video clip of her single "Never Worn White" on Instagram and basically let fans know she was pregnant. It's hard to miss her soul-deep smile and glow.

April 2020

The video for "Never Worn White" seemed to hint at the gender of Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's baby, but the singer officially confirmed it on an Instagram post promoting her single "Daisies." She wrote, "🌼 The first single from #KP5 is called #DAISIES and she’s coming MAY 15, 2020 🌼," in her caption and the crowd went wild!

August 2020

Later that year, UNICEF posted a photo of Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom holding their newborn's hand on Instagram to announce she'd arrived. The organization told fans via their caption that the couple were overjoyed about their daughter's birth. "We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter," the organization shared in its caption.

Orlando couldn't help but gush over his little girl during a brief virtual appearance for The Ellen Show. He said, "...she sort of looked like a bit like my mum so then I got a little bit confused because Katy's breast feeding this mini-me/my mum/who’s she going to look like next."

January 2021

And when Katy Perry performed during Joe Biden's inauguration, Orlando was right there cheering her on! He gleefully shared a BTS clip of her on Instagram and wrote, "One day our little girl will grow up and see her mother play her part in a moment in history that we hope will heal, we hope will unite, we hope, we love ❤️ One proud partner here with a tear of joy 🇺🇸🎆🙏." BRB, I have to grab tissues.

September 2021

When Katy Perry accepted a prestigous award at Variety's Power of Women in 2021, she gave a heartfelt message that spoke of the two greatest loves in her life — Orlando Bloom and their daughter Daisy. "....[Orlando] an incredible father [and] an example to our greatest gift ever, our daughter Daisy — a future powerful woman. I pledge to you to do my best to be an example of one, to never put limits on your dreams, to lead with love, never through fear, and to always be your lighthouse in any darkness..."

January 2022

Orlando also showed his support for Katy when she was in Las Vegas for her residency. He shared a goofy picture of him BTS with her on Instagram and wrote, "There’s a new act on the #vegas strip @katyperry so proud of you. Let’s all go#play 🍄🚀 HNY❤️," as his caption.

May 2022

Appearing on Chelsea Handler's podcast Dear Chelsea, Katy got real about her and Orlando attending therapy together. "We love it because it keeps us in tune...and so when you want to come back to being normal in a domesticated world where you have a child and stuff like that, you have to really learn how to be kind of different out there in the big and in the small," she said.

We love a couple who attends therapy together!

February 2023

Orlando also revealed to Flaunt that things can be challenging for the couple. He said, "Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands. Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I won’t lie. We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity."

April 2024

Now here we are in 2024 and the blushing couple are still very much in love. They attended the 10th Annual Breakthrough Prize Event earlier this month and look elegant in their black-tie outfits.

As far as their wedding plans are concerned, Katy Perry shared what she plans to do once she leaves American Idol. Per Parade, she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and said, "I think this probably will be my last show, my last season forIdol. I mean, I love Idolso much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat."

She didn't explicitly talk about when she's getting married to Orlando bloom but we'll cross our fingers for a beautiful wedding either this year or in 2025.

You remember it — running to grab the television remote every morning and afternoon just to see that little Disney Channel logo in the corner of the screen. Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, Suite Life of Zack and Cody— these shows and characters made a place in our childhood hearts and memories...and who knew those child actors were actually growing up with us! Disney Channel icon, Christy Carlson Romano revisits her experiences as a child star, one podcast episode at a time.

The Kim Possible and Even Stevens actor divulged on her latest endeavors after launching PodCo, a podcast company bringing you behind-the-scenes content from the most notable Disney stars. Romano's current podcast portfolio includes Vulnerable, Even More Stevens, and her newest revelation, Big Name B-tches, with That’s So Raven actress Annaleise Van der Pol. As a mom on-the-go and a successful entrepreneur, the Cadet Kelly star juggles a lot between the pods and her latest partnership with Emergen-C.

“I used to take the powder in water when I was on set on Even Stevens. A medic would bring me a bottle of water, and I would take it every day, and it would be such a little moment with him where he's like, "Hey, here's something for you to take care of yourself," Romano said of the brand, as we continued on in a heartfelt, eye-opening interview.

B+C: With being a mom and now having your own podcast alongside a podcast company that you co-founded, how do you balance it all?

Just having supportive things around you, whether that's supportive people or supportive elements. My husband is the CEO of PodCo. We have a wonderful team, a social media team. For the longest time I was posting on social media myself, and I think it's wild to see when something starts so small and then starts to become bigger and bigger. I'm really happy and proud of where we've been able to grow.

B+C: I love that. I want to get into your podcast company a bit more because I think it's genius to draw on the Disney nostalgia of it all. What do you think is the real reason that people are so drawn to podcasts curated by child actors?

What a good question. People are definitely drawn because they want the tea. I think people want gossip. We have so many crazy stories that people just never asked us about. What I love about podcasting is that you have as much time as you need to talk about the things that are important to you. And with our different hosts, they have their own dynamics, and then they choose who they want to bring on as a guest. And those guests also have crazy stories. It's all about sharing anecdotes and war stories, I guess you'd call them. It's a lot of fun.

B+C: You've had some notable guests cover some pretty big topics. Dan Benson talked about his adult entertainment career and Anneliese van der Pol revealed that Raven [Symone] was actually supposed to be a side character for possible racial reasons. Is there something that you've experienced or learned from being a Disney star that you wish people knew?

Oh, gosh, I think that the most important thing as a young performer, whether you work for any big network, would be for you to know your worth. And I think that the power of "no" is really important because I said “yes” to everything. And while I do think that Disney was really gracious in giving me amazing characters to play, they always gave me strong female characters to play.

That was my type casting, and I'm really grateful that I was just serendipitously given those roles. Maybe that part of my personality type was just kind of type A and strong willed and sort of bossy, I guess. But I myself have always had times in my life where I didn't have the answers and was a little confused about what the next steps were. And so for a long time, I did struggle. But I do think that understanding the power of "no" at a young age can help all of us, because having agency over your body and your wellness, right.

B+C: That's a great point. And your kids seeing that you were playing strong female characters — that's something that's really good to be exemplified and admirable, too. So your company, PodCo, acquired the Ned's Declassified Podcast Survival Guide and the Wizards of Waverly Pod as well. I'm curious — how did those conversations come about? Did they come to you or your company went to them?

I've been collaborating with a lot of people on my cooking show, and then my husband, who listens to a lot of podcasts, was like, “I think maybe we will move into podcasts with Vulnerable.” And we came together and said, “Oh, Vulnerable is the idea, and let's get these people on to visit with you.” So, I had Lindsay [Shaw] on, and I had collaborated with Devon [Werkheiser] on the cooking show. We also knew the Lawrence brothers. Lawrence brothers was first. We went to Joey [Lawrence's] wedding, and we talked about the podcast at Joey's wedding.

And then we talked to Devon and Lindsay, and we said, “Would Daniel [Curtis Lee] come and get the team back together?” And they said, "I think so." And they reached out to him. And now they make content together all the time, and they kill it online.

B+C: You guys are coming up on [my FYP], too, but I'm not mad about it. It’s great.

Thank you. Yeah, we're busy. And then the Wizards of Waverly Pod came out with Jennifer Stone being awesome, and she enlisted David De Louise, who [plays] the dad on Wizards [of Waverly Place], to be her co-host.

B+C: Love him.

I know. He was just in my house cannonballing at 2:00 A.M. We had a party in Austin [Texas], and all my hosts flew in for it. So we threw the party for everybody, and Austin folks came, and the party lasted really late. It was a good time.

B+C: I believe it. Does your company have any other podcasts in the works that you would be able to talk about?

I can talk about one. I have [another] big announcement, but I can't announce it yet. We have a very large nostalgic rewatch that's coming. We also have three or four others that are rewatches that are big name ones that people are coming to us now with their ideas, because I think they trust that we're going to fight for them to get the most value out of their time. And also the product is going to look good. The one that I can announce for us here is Big Name B-tches, co-starring myself and Anneliese van der Pol.

B+C: Oh, no way. That's so exciting!

Big Name B-tches is about to set foot on its set in two weeks. And we're going to have amazing guests. It's going to feel like a big old girls brunch, sassy stuff, love life. It's going to be very different from Vulnerable, in that I felt like I [record] Vulnerable and it's a very emotional experience for me. I want to be as emotionally available to my guests as I can be. But then what I realized after Vulnerable is that I get kind of depressed. So having this very light, fun, happy, joyful, dare I say, chaotic podcast that I can have in my life. I adore Anneliese, and she's just the best.

B+C: What kind of guests are you guys aiming to have on that show? Is it more Disney stars?

It's everybody and anyone. So it's anyone from the LGBTQ+ community, like drag shows. We've got Todrick Hall that's interested in coming on, but we've also got really fun girls. I'm definitely going to go out to Hannah Berner, who's a friend of mine.

B+C: And that's coming out in two weeks?

No, so we're filming it [in two weeks]. People can get excited about it. We're announcing that it's coming, and it will be coming shortly after that. I would say in the next couple of months, it's going to come out.

B+C: That's so exciting—I will definitely be a listener. I wanted to lean into the Even More Stevens podcast as well. Have you ever discussed having Shia LaBeouf on?

We knew going into this that a lot of people would be asking us if Shia was going to come on the podcast. I figured, yeah, we knew that that would be like an empty chair. And maybe in some regards, maybe we could have created an empty chair space just to be like, “That's Shia's chair.” If he ever fills it, that's his choice. Overall, we know that he's a busy guy. He's got a lot going on personally. When you think of family and you don't see your family for a really long time, everybody grows and changes, and sometimes you don't talk to your family, and that doesn't mean that you don't love them. We just want the best for him, whether that's like being the healthiest that he can be.

We don't want to pressure Shia to come on this podcast. That's kind of where we were at with it. I do think that we have a right to be able to talk about the show that we were on, even if it was an ensemble show, even though Shia was like the number one. There were two and a three and a four. It was like a whole family. So sometimes people will be like, "Well, why would they do it without him?" It's because we are allowed to. Just like everyone else gets to have an experience that they talk about.

B+C:  I agree. It's all your individual experiences. You don't have to have every single person that was involved. You have that right.

But he is always welcome and of course, Shia is always welcome to reach out to me, too. There's never been any reason why I think he would think that I would be upset with him or not want to talk. We're on good terms. At least on my end. I'm on good terms.

B+C: I mean, you were on a child's show, so everyone kind of grows up separately. People forget that, I think.

Oh, totally. I think it's convenient to say, "But they are real brother and sister." Yeah, we are, but we're far away from each other.

B+C: :  Absolutely. I want to switch gears to Kim Possible. Besides the obvious animation of it, what do you think the biggest difference is in terms of acting when it comes to voicing a character versus playing a character as that person?

It's really interesting that people always see me as Kim Possible. This has happened to me my whole life. I used to think that it was because I was on other TV shows and that my face was recurring on the TV shows. So of course they think of me as Kim Possible because I was on Cadet Kelly or Even Stevens. So if my face is there, then they're just putting my face on Kim. But now what's really odd to me is that folks who don't even really know who I am for other things know me as Kim Possible. Subconsciously, they must have seen me on something and they don't even realize it because my shows were in syndication and reruns for decades. I find it wild that people still see my face as Kim Possible exclusively. And I'm proud of that because if and when it were to come back, I would really need to be a part of that.

B+C: That would be perfect.

I think everybody would support that. But ultimately, it is so different to act 12 hours a day and be on set and if that's not your jam, if you've grown up doing that, it can be really tiring. You're kind of like, "Okay, cool. This was a blast." And I had this little family, and now we don't talk to each other anymore. So I just think that there's a true art form to finding community on set. And then if you could work with those people again, amazing. But to me, that doesn't sound like the sexiest thing that I would like to do right now.

B+C: Right. I think something like, Kim Possible — it just was so good for its time that you don't necessarily have to go back and do a reboot or something like that.

We did the live action, and Sadie Stanley, who's a huge star now, that was her first big thing. And I think that they did a great job. But to make it into live action, you'd need tens of millions of dollars.

B+C: Yeah, that's incredibly tough for that show.

It's so tough. There was no way that I think on the budget that they had that they were going to be able to truly do it justice. But I thought it was a really cute movie and I had a cameo in it and it was fun.

B+C: Did you ever have a say in Kim's catch phrases at all? Or was that all the writers?

No, I definitely did. I was basically with them in the studio in the first couple of episodes. And they were like, "So what would you say to your friends? Would you say, what's up? What's the deal?" And I [said], "I don't know. What's the stitch?” It was so off the top of my head that they were like, “Oh, that's it.” And for some reason, it locked in for them. We played around constantly with different catch phrases for her. That made sense for me because I was the age at the time. I'm sure that if we had Kim Possible 2023, it would be very different. There would be all the different "Bet" and "no Cap '' and all the different [sayings]. But "What's the stitch?" And it hasn't aged poorly. I think it still makes sense.

It's also really cute because it just reminds me of her personality. She says it like, “I'm ready for anything,” but I've got a really good attitude about it.

B+C: Was there ever a storyline either in Even Stevens or Kim Possible or even Cadet Kelly, that you either were unsure of or couldn't necessarily get on board with?

When we did a crossover with Lilo and Stitch, I think that internally, some of the people in the cast, we felt like, “Wait, but why are we doing this?” I think we were a little confused as to why we did those crossovers. But at the end of the day, I'm a huge Lilo and Stitch fan. And because Kim Possible was a 2D animation, I was like, okay, this should be interesting to see how they're going to draw it together. So in some ways, what I thought would have been like a bad decision for us to have Lilo and Stitch come on to KP turned out to be really cool because when you think about it, it's kind of rare for there to be crossover animated episodes. We're a part of Disney animation history for multiple reasons because of that.

B+C: Besides the shows that you were a part of, were there ever any other Disney Channel shows that you were just dying to get into or wanted to act in at the time?

At the time, not really. I did want to do one more DCOM [Disney Channel Original Movie]. I would have loved to have done another Disney Channel movie where it was more or less about me. It could have been fun to do something more magical — at the time, we weren't doing a ton of magical stuff. I would have loved to become a princess on Princess Protection Program. I remember when Demi [Lovato] and Selena [Gomez] did that movie, and I was like, "Oh, man, they're so lucky they get to do this."

I love looking at Zillow listings as much as the best of us, but absolutely nobody loves daydreaming about all the outrageously beautiful (and costly) houses for sale more than my mother-in-law. She finds the most gorgeous gems across the country, saving them all for when she inevitably wins the lottery (if anyone would, it's her TBH) and can take her pick of the housing litter. Instead of gatekeeping these jaw-dropping homes, I had her send them my way so I can share them with you! So without further ado, here are 15 of most insanely stunning — and insanely expensive — Zillow houses for sale right now.

Beach Houses

East Hampton Beach Cottage

Cost: $44,500,000

The Hamptons are known for their clean, chic shingle architectural style, and this "cottage" is no exception to that. And while I absolutely adore the inside of this home, it's the grounds that really get me at the end of the day. Think about all the beautiful backyard dinner parties you could throw!

Destin Beach House Destination

Cost: $4,100,000

Who needs a time share in Destin when you could own all this?! This airy, beautiful house takes coastal home style to the next level. I love the sandy, earthy tones paired with the light blues and open space. And for less than 10% of the Bridgehampton beauty above, this is basically a steal, right? 😉

Marvelous Marco Island Getaway

Cost: $5,450,000

I vacation on Marco every year with my in-laws, but I can PROMISE you our one-bedroom timeshare (that I love) isn't anywhere near this stunning super home. Swipe through photos to see how gorgeously staged this multi-million dollar home is — I promise it won't disappoint!

Laguna Beach Beauty

Cost: $21,500,000

Obviously Laguna Beach is known for so much more than the hit MTV show, but I can't untangle the two. So in my mind, this is the home Lauren Conrad's parents worked on in Season 1 Episode 1 — a $20+ million dollar stunner that I would later stare at on Zillow. It's not true, but wouldn't it be fun?

California Dream House

Cost: $55,000,000

Not only is this a dream house because of how it looks, but also because I could only afford this in my literal wildest dreams. Unless someone decides to discover me on the New York streets for the funny, talented gal my parents think I am, this is strictly a mood board manifestation moment. (But, what if?!)

At Home In The Hamptons

Cost: $79,995,000

Oh, how I could wax poetic about this $80 million Bridgehampton beauty. Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Ya know...the one I would love to have in this very house? Just lounging, living luxuriously? That imaginary inheritance I daydream about could reaaaaaally come in handy right about now.

Fantastic Florida Beach Cottage

Cost: $9,950,000

In case you can't tell, none of these homes are "cottages" outside of their aesthetic. While this six bedroom, four bathroom may look humbler than the rest, the cost should indicate what we're working with here. Each room is so perfectly curated, and to have all this right in the heart of Naples is absolutely everything. I could see myself sitting by that fire for SURE.

Condos & Townhouses

Gorgeous Georgetown Condo

Cost: $5,495,000

DC is more than just Capitol Hill, and this Georgetown Condo proves it! The natural light, the natural wood accents, and the big, airy rooms make this home a welcomed reprieve in on of the busier U.S. cities. And while you're getting a lot in a small package (three bedrooms for $5+ million...😭), you're really paying for the neighborhood. Georgetown really is full of beautiful townhouses, great restaurants and bars, and overall good vibes.

Upper East Side Excellence

Cost: $65,000,000

Hello, Upper East Siders...Zillow Girl here! All jokes aside, this $65 million townhouse is giving all the old money luxe that Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf would settle into quite nicely. The molding, the wraparound staircases, and the sheer size alone are something else, but the biggest surprise here? TEN BATHROOMS. TEN!!!!!!

Totally Airy Brooklyn Townhouse

Cost: $6,950,000

Good new, girls! This totally killer townhouse had a $300,000 price cut last month, bringing it to...just under $7 million! While I try to fix my eye twitch after writing that, scroll through to see the gorgeousness that is this literal mid-century modern four-story home. It's like a little (big) oasis in the middle of the big city!

Beautiful Turn-Of-The-Century Brooklyn Townhouse

Cost: $6,995,000

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Carroll Gardens in my dream neighborhood. It's got all the Brooklyn charm with its brilliant brownstones, lively dining scene, and tree-lined streets. Plus, it's so incredibly close to Prospect Park for all your summer strolls with the kids or the dogs or yourself or whomever! And while I could go on and on about the location, the townhouse itself is kitschy with it's mix of classic and modern details.

Mountain And Lake Houses

Charming Wyoming Ranch House

Cost: $8,199,000

It feels a little silly to call a nearly $10 million home "charming," but here we are. This modern ranch-style mountain house looks unassuming from the outside. And the four-bedroom inside is really nice, too, don't get me wrong. But what really makes this worth it, if I had to guess? The freaking VIEW. Can you imagine sipping your coffee and staring off into that horizon every morning? Yes, please. I would like one of these.

Cozy North Carolina Castle

Cost: $7,500,000

Ah yes, nothing cozier than a literal castle-sized house in Appalachia. In all seriousness, the dark wood accents give you that almost cabin-esque feel that the mountain range so obviously calls for. With 10 bedrooms, this is the perfect retreat for your family get-togethers! You can enjoy each other's company across the estate, or you could...find a little hiding spot and nobody would know the wiser. 😉

Sante Fe Getaway

Cost: $3,375,000

The most affordable of the bunch, this single-story Sante Fe residence is a dream-come-true! You've got lake views, trails, and even a golf course if that's your thing! My personal favorite part of this lovely little home, however, is the wine cellar. Can you imagine being like, "Yeah, just go grab a bottle from the wine cellar"?! Like I said, dream-come-freaking-true!

Lovely Michigan Lake House

Cost: $3,649,000

The windows alone are enough to make this house the dreamiest escape, let alone the private and super exclusive access to Lake Michigan. This home may only have three bedrooms and four bathrooms, but each room feels intentional, spacious, and utterly luxurious. I'd definitely dip my toes in that water!

Sequels that are just as good, if not better, than the original movie are one in a million, but if you ask me, Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement definitely tops the list. Anne Hathaway brings a whole new spunk and adultified sass to the freshly 21-year-old Mia Thermopolis, and Julie Andrews shines as Queen Clarisse! (Both on the karaoke stage and off ;)). Not to mention the movie also gave us the blueprint for contemporary enemies to lovers: Nicholas and Mia!

While Bridgerton producer Shonda Rhimes wasn't involved with the first movie, she was the writer for the second — and TBH, that's definitely a reason it's so good!

"I thought [Princess Diaries 2] would be a really fun thing to do and it turned out to be great," she tells Variety. "I always think it's funny now because I'm working with Julie Andrews now on Bridgerton, but I also spent time writing her as a queen in that movie, and so it was kind of great to get to work with her both times. It's also sort of come full circle in a weird way."

Shonda Rhimes goes on to explain one cut scene she remembers really fondly — and how Andrews' expert performance made it even more heartbreaking to cut. "That was pretty much one of my favorite scenes," she says. "It was this moment where Julie Andrews [has] had her heart broken, and some staff comes in and they start to ask her a question and she screams, 'Do I never get a moment to myself?!' and it was such an amazing moment the way she played it, and the elegance with which she did it. It's really about the pain of being a queen."

"She did it so well," Rhimes continues. "But in general, honestly, she's the nicest person you will ever meet and she was so nice to me, I was nervous to meet her, I was shaking, [but she's] so lovely."

After Julie Andrews sent the sweetest graduation gift to a fan, I'm not surprised to hear how incredible she is. I still have my fingers crossed that we'll see Julie Andrews in The Princess Diaries 3 — and that Shonda Rhimes will return as screenwriter.

What's your favorite scene from the Princess Diaries movies? The mattress surfing scene in Princess Diaries 2 is definitely one of the best movie moments of all time. If you're feeling nostalgic, check out 6 Nostalgic Movies That Feel Like Summer Vacation!
