With only a few short weeks before this year’s Academy Awards, the nominees are busy thinking about their wardrobe choices, their acceptance speeches and, of course, who they’ll bring to the ceremony. Since nominee Andrew Garfield has split from his also nominated ex Emma Stone (though we’re totally rooting for the pair get back together, since Emma admitted that she still loves Andrew), he’s had to think a little bit harder about who he’ll take to the show, and his choice is perfect in every way.

In an interview with E! , the Hacksaw Ridge actor admitted that his dad will be the perfect date, saying, “I think it’s something he’d love to share with me. It’s a big deal for him and he’s the one who made me fall in love with movies when I was a kid.” So cute, right?

Of course, the interviewer also had to bring up a sly smooch that Andrew placed on neighbor Ryan Reynolds during the Golden Globes this month, to which the actor cheekily replied that he’d consider kissing his seat neighbor come Oscars night too — “it depends on who they seat me next to,” he said. *Cough, cough, EMMA.* “If they’re smart they’ll sit me next to someone that I’m attracted to. In that room, I don’t think there are many misses!”

Seems as if Garfield is planning on making our hearts sing regardless of whether he wins or not. And maybe, just maybe, the Academy will seat him next to his former lady love and he’ll make good on his word, giving us all what we really, really want.
