10 Vegetarian BBQ Ideas for Memorial Day
In our warmer weather commitment to spend as little time inside as possible (and to work on our tan), we’re taking our cooking skills to the great outdoors and grilling up some veggies. Yes, vegetables. Not everything you put on the grill has to be meat. (Diehard carnivore, we’ve got you covered with these BBQ classics). Whether you’re a meatless maven or you’re feeding a hungry vegetarian at your BBQ bash, here are 10 of our favorite colorful dishes to toss on the grill.
4. Sriracha Grilled Tofu: You’re in for one crazy hot meal. If you really want to melt mouths, marinate in Sriracha overnight. If you don’t want to see all your friends in a fit of spicy tears, keep the marinating time to two hours. (via Bon Appetit)
6. Grilled Portobello Peach Burger: Peaches are a summer staple and are delicious grilled or when they’re made into a salsa to top your mushroom burg. And let’s talk about that shroom for a minute. It carries a similar texture to a real burger. Meat eaters and mushroom haters alike won’t be able to deny that this is a winner. (via Design Sponge)
8. Thai Tofu on Lemongrass Skewers: Go ahead. Get creative. The lemongrass skewer is a blank canvas offering you endless possibilities. Grab the most seasonally fresh produce and get kebab-ing. (via Coconut and Lime)
9. BBQ Tempeh Cheeseburger: With this vegetarian twist on the American classic, vegetarians won’t feel left out when everyone is eating cheeseburgers. A thick slathering of BBQ sauce is highly encouraged. (via Yummy Mummy Kitchen)
