Bill Hader and Maggie Carey Are Divorcing After 11 Years of Marriage
Another celebrity couple has called it quits: Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader and his wife, Maggie Carey, are divorcing after 11 years of marriage.
A representative for the actor confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight, revealing that the 39-year-old comedic performer and his now-ex have been separated since this past July and are currently in the process of seeking a divorce.
The two, who met and lived in California before moving to New York when Hader was cast on SNL, married back in 2006 and over the years became the parents of three daughters, eight-year-old Hannah, five-year-old Harper, and three-year-old Hayley.
The family eventually made their way back to the West Coast, with Hader telling USA Today in 2013, “The whole reason we’re moving to California is that we’re tired of being apart all the time. Doing SNL was a huge time commitment. You’d have weeks off and you’d have to go to LA. It’s about rolling with the punches.”
They certainly seemed to roll with things professionally. In addition to appearing on SNL, Hader lent his voice to multiple animated films. (You can hear him in Inside Out, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, and Turbo.) He also appeared on fellow SNL alum Andy Samberg’s Fox show Brooklyn Nine-Nine, for which Carey directed two episodes.
The former couple pooled their talents for 2013’s The To Do List, with Carey directing and Hader acting alongside Aubrey Plaza. The collab was a success, according to the pair, who were eager to work together again in the future. “He has to be in everything I do,” she said during her USA Today interview with Hader, who responded, “I’ll be in all your movies.”
We wish these two all the best as they find their way through their divorce.
