The 15 Britbox Shows You Can Stream on HBO Max (Only For A Limited Time!)

Britbox Shows on HBO Max
BBC

Britbox has morphed into one of the most popular streaming platforms due to its vast library of high-quality TV and film. But the truth is, at $8.99 a month, not everyone is able to afford this refined streaming service. Eventually, all of the channels end up piling up, so it’s easy for many to just stick to the big ones like Netflix, Prime Video, and HBO Max.

Fortunately, though, fans of British entertainment will be delighted to know there are multiple Britbox shows available for streaming on HBO Max. But you’re going to want to hurry up with your binge-watching because they’ll only be here for a short window of time — August 1 to September 29. Get cozy and grab your cup of steaming Earl Grey, because we’re about to dive into some British masterpieces that are Britbox shows you can watch on HBO Max for the next two months.

Ricky Gervais in The Office UK

BBC

The Office (UK)

I’ve already watched the US version a gazillion and a half times, so it’s about gosh darn time I bloody well give the UK version a try (see how I said ‘bloody’? Am I trying too hard, Brits?).

You’d think no couple could possibly compare to the magic of the US version’s Jim and Pam, yet based on the clips I’ve seen of their UK counterparts, Tim and Dawn, they might just be able to give PB&J a run for their money. That’s some palpable chemistry right there. I truly can’t wait to dive in.

Rochelle Neil, Yazmin Belo, and Saffron Coomber in Three Little Birds

Three Little Birds

The Immigration experience from the Caribbean to London is a fascinating one. It’s explored heavily in early 20th-century literature, particularly by author Jean Rhys, who poetically writes of the contrast and culture shock she herself experienced when moving from the Caribbean to London in the early 1900s.

Three Little Birds takes this a step further by centering around three ambitious young women who are determined to create a better life for themselves and their families in the UK. This period drama, set in the 1950s, details the pains, the triumphs, and everything in between for these three ladies who stand united as sisters.

Despite receiving critical acclaim and a dedicated following among audiences worldwide, the period drama was sadly not picked up for a second season. Fortunately, fans can watch the beauty of season 1 on HBO Max.

Lucy Boynton and Will Poulter in 'Why Didn't They Ask Evans?'

Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?

I love shows that are equal parts witty as they are suspenseful. Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?, created by the masterful House alum Hugh Laurie, adapts Agatha Christy’s best-selling novel in this acclaimed Britbox miniseries. The biting dialogue is just as entrancing as the period costume designs and lush Hampshire backdrop. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time, and you can be too, by streaming this little gem of a series on HBO Max.

Jo Joyner and Mark Benton in Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators

Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators

When I sit down to watch a cozy crime series, I want it to actually deliver on the “cozy” part. Instead, when it comes to US crime shows within this genre, I usually end up having nightmares and am unable to sleep properly for nights on end.

Fortunately, Shakespeare & Hathaway, a delightful Britbox cozy mystery, is equal parts cozy as it is engaging. It’s funny, brimming with wit, and filled with an ensemble of characters who have the absolute greatest on-screen banter. Watching this show feels like being wrapped up in a warm blanket while it rains outside. Can’t recommend enough.
