Carrie Underwood Just Revealed the Sex of Baby #2 at the 2018 CMA Awards
Looks like Isaiah is getting a little brother! Carrie Underwood revealed the sex of her second child at the 2018 CMA Awards on Wednesday, November 14, telling co-host Brad Paisley and the audience at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena that she and husband Mike Fisher are expecting a baby boy.
As she and Paisley took the stage for their opening, their banter quickly turned to the topic of Underwood’s pregnancy. “Hey, remember last time when I accidentally revealed the gender of your baby?” Paisley joked of his slip at the 2014 CMA Awards, when he told the world she was having a boy, prompting “#BradBlewIt” to trend on Twitter.
Not wanting to repeat the same mistake again, Paisley tried to get the “Cry Pretty” singer to spill the beans herself — before he did. “Seriously, Carrie, give me a little baby hint,” he prompted her. “Johnny or June? Keith or Nicole? Garth or Trisha? Tim or Faith? George or Tammy? Waylon or Willie?”
“Wait, what? That doesn’t even make sense!” Underwood said of his last example, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. Ultimately, though, she gave in to his nonstop questions, yelling in fake exasperation, “Oh my gosh! Willie, it’s a Willie!”
It wasn’t clear at first whether she was joking or actually revealing the sex, but her rep later confirmed the news to People. The little one will join big brother Isaiah Michael.
Underwood announced her pregnancy back in August, sharing a video of herself with giant balloons spelling out “BABY” in the background. She told Ellen DeGeneres in September that she and Fisher knew the sex but were keeping it to themselves for the time being. “We like to kind of just hold on to things for a minute,” she explained. “I feel like everyone knows just everything about everybody, so we just like to have a little secret for a little while.”
The secret’s out now, though!
