Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum have always been total #couplegoals. Whether they鈥檙e working together, goofing off, or just hanging out as a family with daughter Everly, they seem perpetually head-over-heels in love with each other. So we were a little surprised to hear that Tatum鈥檚 2008 proposal to his now-wife made her cry 鈥 and not in a good way.

How Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum celebrated their anniversary

During a recent appearance on Nick Grimshaw鈥檚 BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, the actor fully copped to his awful plan. 鈥淲hen I proposed to my wife, I did something pretty cruel because I thought she was on to me,鈥 he admitted. 鈥淚 basically told her I never wanted to get married to try to throw her off. I told her, 鈥業 don鈥檛 believe in the institution of marriage and I don鈥檛 think I ever want to get married.'鈥

Unfortunately, he was a little too convincing.

鈥淪he basically broke down crying,鈥 Tatum told Grimshaw. 鈥淚 thought, 鈥楾his is not going well at all,鈥 so I had to propose to her sooner rather than later.鈥

Of course, as we know, he more than made it up to her when he pulled off a super romantic Maui proposal 鈥 complete with their closest friends on hand 鈥 not long after. They鈥檝e been married for eight years now, so it鈥檚 safe to say she鈥檚 forgiven him for that initial prank.

The Magic Mike star had the chance to further repent for his proposal sins when, during the interview, he helped a caller surprise his girlfriend with a proposal over the phone. At least someone will have a happy proposal memory involving Tatum!
