With spring finally showing its sunny face, we’re ready to have some much-deserved sweet ice cream treats – just in time for Häagen-Dazs to host its annual Free Cone Day. Is there any better way to celebrate warm weather than free ice cream?? Scheduled for Tuesday, May 8, all you need to do is visit participating Häagen-Dazs shops in the U.S. from 4-8pm and score one free scoop of ice cream or sorbet in a cup, sugar cone, or cake cone.
Free Cone Day is extra special, though, because it has a charitable component that supports a great cause. It marks the 10th anniversary of Häagen-Dazs Loves Honey Bees. While we’re scoring our free scoop of ice cream, the chain is hoping people will take the chance to donate toward their support of honeybees. Xerces Society‘s trying to build one million acres of new habitat for bumblebees, which have been dying off in record numbers. Since a third of the food we eat and a third of Häagen-Dazs ice cream flavors are bee dependent, it’s in our best interest to make sure they survive.
If you feel inspired, you can support the honeybee cause by donating to the Xerces Society at xerces.org/hd. Get this stunning figure: The Häagen-Dazs Loves Honey Bees Initiative has actually donated over one million dollars toward honeybee protection and education over the past decade. Woohoo!
