When we’re cooking with good health in mind, chicken is a go-to ingredient for us. It’s an inexpensive (relative to other meats) source of protein, hearty and delicious. But we love it most for its versatility and never tire of the many ways it can be served up. Need inspiration? Here are 25 things you can cook with chicken.

If you’re short on time, chicken cooks up very well in a crock pot, which is a type of slow cooker. Almost any roasted chicken, skillet recipe or chicken soup can be adapted for a slow cooker. The beauty of the slow cooker is, you can prep the ingredients in the morning or even the night before, dump everything into your slow cooker and head off to work. By the time you return at night, dinner will be waiting for you the minute you walk in the door. Here are 12 dump and run recipes, one more delicious than the next.

Over at Eating Bird Food, Brittany Mullins is sharing her favorite recipe for rosemary chicken, and cleverly using the rosemary sprigs for skewers. What’s not to love about this gorgeous dish? Chunks of chicken are marinated in a light apple cider vinaigrette, speared with rosemary sprigs and grilled to perfection. Brittany shares the secret for turning sturdy sprigs of rosemary into skewers. You simply strip the rosemary needles, which you can use in the marinade, then soak the sprigs in water while the chicken is marinating in the fridge.

This chicken is a clean eater’s delight. The six ingredients are simply chicken, oil, vinegar, rosemary, salt and pepper. That’s it. It’s gluten-free and Paleo- and Whole30 compliant, so feel free to share with friends.

Happy and healthy eating!
