Why Katie Holmes Is Wearing a Diamond Ring on That Finger
Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx tend to keep the details of their relationship to themselves, which is why fans wondered if a secret proposal had taken place when the actress was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her left hand while in New Orleans on Wednesday, October 31. It turns out, though, that the jewelry is not a sign of an engagement — at least, not a real one.
The ring is a prop for Holmes’ upcoming role in The Secret. “Katie’s not engaged to anyone besides her fictional movie fiancé, played by Jerry O’Connell,” the actress’ rep told Page Six.
The Secret, which is based on the best-selling self-help book of the same name, tells the story of a young widow and the handyman she hires to fix her house. According to Variety, he espouses the book’s philosophy of believing in the power of the universe to deliver what we want.
Fans who are hoping to see Holmes walk down the aisle again in real life may be disappointed. Neither she nor Foxx has ever publicly confirmed their relationship, and Foxx told Oprah Winfrey in 2012 that he wasn’t sure he was “built for marriage.” Which is not to say he can’t commit. “I know one thing, I’m a very loving person,” he said on Oprah’s Next Chapter. “When it comes to connecting with somebody then being like there…I know I could be long-term in our connection.”
