If you are anything like us and try to pack as many adventures as possible into the summer, you may be left feeling in need of a vacation from your vacations. But you don’t have to fly all the way to a tropical island to give your body some real R&R. We’ve teamed up with Alba Botanica® to provide you with the detox you need to reset your body and recharge your mind in just three days. You can use meal plans, plant-based beauty products, and yoga to rejuvenate from within.
One of the most impactful parts of a detox is your diet. We’ve done the heavy lifting for you and put together a sample meal plan that includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
These meals are packed full of protein and healthy fats, so they’ll leave you feeling full and your body nourished. Start your day off right with a kale smoothie. Because kale is high in fiber, minerals, and nutrients it promotes digestion and detoxification. It’s the perfect way to kick-start your body in the morning. A citrus salad for lunch will bring in an extra dose of Vitamin C which boosts your immunity and helps prevent free radicals from damaging your cells. As for dinner, miso is a great way to introduce fermented foods into your detox. Fermented foods stimulate digestion and energize your body.
When you are feeling hungry in between meals, reach for snacks like almonds, which contain healthy fats or grapefruit, which is high in fiber. Another one of our favorite detox snacks is kale chips — they’re so tasty that we can hardly believe they’re good for us.
To make your own kale chips, de-stem a head of kale and break it into chip-size pieces. We recommend massaging the kale to remove some of its bitterness. Toss in olive oil with a pinch of salt and nutritional yeast, place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet, then bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-12 minutes. For detox-friendly drinks, reach for water, water, and more water, with a side of hibiscus tea picked up at your nearest health foods store. Hibiscus is packed with antioxidants that are great for detoxing your liver.
During your three-day detox, be sure to stick to plant-based beauty products. A victory is never too small to celebrate, and your journal will help you acknowledge your wins. Take time to sit down and journal, journaling is said to increase mindfulness and decrease stress.
