Russell Brand Has Nothing But Nice Things to Say About His Marriage to Katy Perry
These days, Russell Brand has settled down as both a husband and a father — but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have fond memories of his former life. In fact, the man who was once married to Katy Perry has nothing but positive things to say about their time together.
“It’s a bit difficult to tell what’s going on in such a situation,” Brand admitted while sitting down for a chat on The Wendy Williams Show on Thursday. Still, when speaking out about his previous relationship, he said he now has a rather fond view of the time he spent with the “Swish Swish” singer. “[I]t was a very, very wonderful time,” he expressed.
Married in October 2010 during a traditional Hindu ceremony, the couple announced their split just 14 months later. The singer claimed in an interview with Vogue back in 2013 that she hadn’t “heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011.” She also revealed to Marie Claire that Brand wanted to have children, while she didn’t feel like she was ready.
The comedian, on the other hand, blamed Perry’s rising fame for issues in their marriage, as well as her reluctance to take on roles of activism at the time (a fact that has since changed drastically).
Despite all of this, Brand now asserts that he always cared for his ex-wife. “She was lovely,” he told Williams this week. “She’s such a lovely person; I’ve got nothing but love for her.”
