These Star-Shaped Taco Pies Are Perfect for Memorial Day
While it still might be spring, you’re probably already thinking about what you’re going to do for Memorial Day weekend (#overachiever). Whether you decide to take a camping trip with your friends or staycay in your city by playing beach games on the summer shore, there’s one thing you cannot forget before you go on your next adventure: the food. That’s why for this Memorial Day, we figured it might be a good idea to celebrate one of our favorite dishes with a patriotic twist. These star-shaped tacos have freedom written all over them because they’re filled with beef and cheese. Dip them in sour cream or salsa and you’ll be singing the “Star-Spangled Banner” all weekend long. Believe us, this will be your new favorite taco recipe.
Ingredients:
Makes 9-10 Tacos
— 2 crescent dough sheets
— 1 pound ground beef
— 1/4 cup shredded cheese
— 1 egg (for egg wash)
Toppings:
— a handful of lettuce
— side cherry tomatos
— side sour cream
Instructions:
1. Cook ground beef over medium-high heat until it’s brown.
2. Roll out crescent roll sheet and cut out star shapes with a star-shaped cookie cutter.
3. Place the star-shaped dough pieces about one-inch apart from each other.
4. Then place a small amount of ground beef in the middle of the dough.
5. Next, sprinkle shredded cheese over the beef.
6. Cover the cheese and beef with the another star-shaped dough slice.
7. With a fork, press the edges together.
8. Finish the pieces off with an egg wash. Place them in the oven following the guidelines on the crescent roll can. Cook until golden brown.
9. Take them out of the oven and place on top of a bed of lettuce. Add salsa and sour cream on the side for dipping, and lay tomatoes on top for a sweet finish.
