This Woman Wore Her Future Engagement Ring for a Year Without Even Knowing It
Pulling off a memorable marriage proposal shouldn’t require a lot of flashy tricks. It’s a meaningful moment for a couple no matter what, but that doesn’t mean that adding a dash of Disney or gelato (!) or, oh, say, planning a proposal that takes place over THREE YEARS isn’t just a little more epic. That’s why we we’re totally heart-eyes emoji over this story about a woman who wore her engagement ring for a YEAR before her actual proposal — and didn’t even know it.
Terry, the proposer, explains in a Youtube video that he made his fianceé Anna a necklace for their one-year anniversary, hiding a diamond ring inside. She loved the wood and shell necklace and wore it every day, as seen in the many pics in the video. Of course, she had NO idea of how many layers there were.
“A year and a half later we traveled to Smoo Cave in Scotland, a place we had talked about since we first met,” Terry writes. “We wanted a nice photo in the cave so I setup my camera and tripod on a timer, and rushed in. I had asked a little earlier if I could borrow the necklace for a moment to take a nice photo of it near the cave. I took it from my pocket, kneeled, broke it open and revealed that something was hidden inside the entire time.”
Naturally, Anna was shocked — and, Terry admits, slightly “happy-angry.” “Wait, it’s been in there the whole time?!” she said. “I could have lost it you f*****g idiot!” Gotta admit, that’s a pretty fair response.
The important part is that she didn’t, and the ring lives happily on Anna’s hand. Adorbs. Congrats, guys!
