10 Private Clubs With Unbelievable Membership Perks

Forget about the stuffy old social clubs of yore. While antiquated organizations focused on tee times, three-martini lunches, and unapologetic social climbing, there are more modern clubs that celebrate culture, travel, and magic (or that can get us into a private jet or swanky car). While these clubs might be hard to get into — and will set you back a pretty penny in both initiation fees and yearly dues — if you’re looking for a splurge, they might be a worthy investment.

1. Club 33, Disneyland, CA: Club 33 is the ultimate membership for a diehard Disneyland fan. The private club, located behind an unassuming door in the heart of New Orleans Square, is the only place in Disneyland where liquor is served (and that’s almost worth the membership right there… almost). Along with a beautifully appointed bar that boasts a variety of magical flourishes here and there, the club hosts an array of member-only events with Imagineers and Disney experts. 2. Magic Castle, Hollywood, CA: For those who have a trick or two up your sleeve (literally), a membership at the Magic Castle is right up your alley. The Hollywood hot spot is the exclusive clubhouse for members of the Academy of Magical Arts, hosting a wide array of magical performances, as well as offering the chance to dine in “Victorian splendor” on such dishes like Ancho Chili Coffee Braised Pork Osso Bucco or a Harry Houdini cut of Herb-Rubbed Slow-Roasted Prime Rib (note there is a strict dress code). The club offers a rotating roaster of events, and membership at the magician level includes access to the club’s impressive library of magic.

3. The Explorers Club, New York City, NY: Since its inception back in 1904, the Explorer’s Club has supported and celebrated scientific exploration of land, sea, air, and space. At their palatial headquarters in NYC’s Upper East Side, you might expect to see Indiana Jones lounging in one of the well-worn leather chairs sipping on a bourbon while pontificating on exotic adventures. But this isn’t a place for fictional explorers; this is the REAL deal, with legendary members including Edmund Hillary, Jacques Piccard, and Josh Gates of Expedition Unknown.

4. Disney Vacation Club (Various Locations): If you can’t finagle a membership to Club 33 — which is next to impossible to get (there is a years-long waiting list) — then you can always become a member of the Disney Vacation Club timeshare program. Not only do you get to use your points for extraordinary accommodations (hello there, over-water bungalow), but you’ll also get invited to member-exclusive events like admittance to Animal Kingdom after the park officially closes. Kitchen Collective, Napa, CA: The culinary arts are the focus at Napa’s Kitchen Collective, a private club created for the “cooking enthusiast.” In the club’s professional kitchen, members cook alongside culinary pros and those passionate about creating magic in the kitchen. Weekly events include feasts made to honor global cuisines from “A Taste of New England” to “A Taste of Morocco,” where members can sit back and relax let the real chefs do the cooking. 6. Wheels Up (Service to Various Locations): For those who travel a whole lot but don’t like to fly commercial, there’s Wheels Up; it’s like a ride-sharing program for private airplanes. This club allows you to pick your wheels from a jaw-dropping collection of fancy cars — from the red Ferrari mentioned above to a sleek Rolls Royce to a sporty Lamborghini — and various membership levels offer increasingly generous rental credits.

9. Wingtip, San Francisco, CA: Located in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District, Wingtip is the kind of club you could imagine Don Draper, Humphrey Bogart, or Ian Fleming being a member of. Speaking of Ian Fleming, the Wingtip hosts an annual party in honor of his birthday as well as Burns Night (for Robert Burns), Repeal Day (the End of Prohibition), and a big event celebrating Frank Sinatra’s b-day. 10. SoHo House (Various Locations): This private club that caters to creative fields has over 20 Houses all over the world (the first house was in London’s SoHo). There is a strict and mysterious admission process that requires nomination by two existing members and is not necessarily based on status or wealth (Kim Kardashian has reportedly been denied membership in the past). As a result, the community is a carefully curated group of interesting creatives, and membership grants access to a cozy space for social networking, private meetings, working, dining, or enjoying special events. Cute Pixie Haircut

Short haircuts are here to stay, especially when we know it's going to be hot during summer! Since I've cut my hair on three separate occasions, I know a few tricks that make sure my hair was razor sharp and shiny every time I stepped out. One of them is making sure I used a moisturizing shampoo and conditionerduring each wash day. This help me set the tone for styling.

Next, I recommend using a heat protectant spray that won't dry your hair out if you plan to use a blow dryer and curling iron. If you plan to let your hair air dry, you could also mold and set your hair using a good foaming mousse!

No matter how you choose to wear your pixie haircut, it's sure to look glorious when you properly prep your hair.

It wouldn't be right if I didn't refer to this look the way the TikTok and Instagram girlies do. Known as one of the most popular Black women's hairstyles, this is actually referred to as a 'bussdown' middle part — and it looks fabulous on Ciara. Truthfully, anyone can wear this style because it's universal (love it) and isn't specific to one group of women. I mean, even Law Roach has been know to wear a good bussdown middle part, and we love him even more for it!

Curls Out

"I took pictures upside down and had no clue. I treated a friendship bracelet like a Flat Stanley for my husband like I didn’t realize it wasn’t ‘07. I borrowed more jewelry than the skeleton in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. And I went clubbing. Now I know what my episode of TheTwilight Zone would look like."

Blake Lively recently opened up about how Ryan Reynolds and she monitor screen safety for their kids, which is definitely something top-of-mind in 2024. “This is not an ad. I get nothing out of this. I just love @tappityapp,” she said of the STEM-focused educational app. “It’s engaging, informative, fun and they care about safety."

She also jokes that she's learning new things right along with her daughters! But, no matter how educational or fun an app is, Blake Lively also emphasizes the importance of engaging with her kids' devices: "I’m always triple checking any kids app constantly for safety because that’s my responsibly not an app’s, but I do LOVE this one.”

Despite its fun and funny moments, the actress has admitted being a mom is hard, but she did it with her signature dry sense of humor. “BettyBooze at your service," she wrote in an Instagram Story announcing the new brand. "These are recipes I’ve been making for loved ones for years. But I have 4 kids now. And I’m tired. So here they are. In a can."

However, Lively absolutely loves motherhood, and says in a 2022 interview with Forbes that having children has made her feel more comfortable in her own skin. "Once I had children, that just became even more profound because my time was even more precious, but also I think having children for me made me feel so much more in my skin," she says. "I never felt more myself or at ease in my own body or more confident — not to say that there aren't a bevy of insecurities coming at me a million times a day, but I just feel incredibly settled."

Speaking with People in 2021, Lively also explains how important it is that her children see her accomplish things outside the home. "I want to be as present of a mother as humanly possible and I want them to feel my presence, but I also think the best way to be the best mother is to show them that you can have a life and have a passion and have an identity outside of just being a mother," Lively says.

While she acknowledges that motherhood is all-encompassing, and it looks different for everyone, she knows that having your own identity is very important. "Teaching them that they can maintain themselves and that everything is possible [is crucial]," she adds.

Per People, Ryan Reynolds has made it clear he and Blake are wholly invested in the kids' daily lives. The doting husband and father enjoys the moments of "walking them to school and walking them back" as it deepens their bond. More than anything, Ryan and Blake's main goal is to make sure they teach their kids how to be introspective with Ryan saying, "...that's the thing we sort of hang our hat on the most is self-awareness with our kids."

However, that doesn't mean Blake and Ryan don't absolutely love being parents. "We're very excited [and] we wouldn't do this four times if we didn't love it," he says in an interview with CNBC's Power Lunch. "Everybody's doing great. Everybody's actually doing fantastic. I think if we hadn't figured it out by now, I think we'd be in deep, deep trouble."

"It's a zoo over here," he jokes. "This is my office here, this is where I'll probably — to be honest, I'll probably spend the rest of my life in here."

We love how much energy Ryan and Blake are pouring into their kids. It's always beautiful when parents are able to be present with their kids and teach them how to be present with themselves. Ryan Reynolds has also mentioned how having daughters "has been such a ride." Since he comes from a family of all boys, having daughters is something that was beyond his wildest dreams! “I love being a girl dad,” Ryan tells Access. “I have three daughters, which I never in a million years would imagine.”

He mentioned his newest daughter in June of 2023, when he announced his new series Bedtime Stories. "The idea for a show made to help everyone fall asleep was born the same day as my fourth child," he says on Instagram.
