What’s App-ening? New Ways to Quiz Friends, Map Your Life and More!
Brunch Time is the best time, and this week it’s App Time too! Like ordering an omelette and getting your friend to go halfsies with you on some ricotta-stuffed french toast, this week’s apps bring a perfect balance to the table of your digital life. They may not be as begrudgingly adorable as an app for taking baby selfies is — yes, that exists now — but here are our new favorite ways to organize, find direction and get animated.
Bawte: If you’re human like the rest of us and you don’t register every single one of the electronics and gadgets you bring home, you’re not alone. And if you LOL at the concept of saving boxes and receipts, Bawte is about to get you ridiculously organized. Use it to snap and save pictures of receipts, register all of your gadgets, get tech support straight from the app and receive alerts if a product is recalled.

Bitstrips: Look! On your phone — it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… you and your friends starring in your very own comic, author: you! Create your avatar and join in an animated community with you and your posse. Post illustrated Facebook status updates, send personal greeting cards and “sketch” your FB friends into cute little comic strips.

Pop: If your party trick is telling people what city they should live in and/or what Girls character is their spirit animal, this app for creating and sending your contacts quizzes might be your next BFF. Use it to get friends’ votes on the tough stuff, like, what should we have for dinner tonight? Or, which dress should I wear on tonight’s date?!

ETA: Oh, the places you’ll go, right?! But TBH the places you travel to on the reg, you could probably count on one hand, give or take a finger. ETA is a new, streamlined way to map out walking and driving directions to exciting destinations like home, work, your favorite fro-yo spot, so you can always find your way.
Cost: $1.99 (Currently on sale, so snatch it up!)
Current.ly: Do Twitter trends sometimes make you say, “huh?!” It may sound a little OCD, but this app and website neatly organize Twitter into Trending Topics, giving necessary backstory behind hashtags and displaying the top tweets for each underneath. We can’t wait to see how it breaks down the next hashtag war between Beliebers and Directioners.

Quixey: This is a Windows Phone app. That helps you find apps. It’s a search engine just for apps that lets you bypass the Google Play store to search for them even if you can’t remember their name, but have a vague idea of what they do. Gotta love that! It will also tip you off to what’s trending.
