This New Instagram Trend Is All About Flaunting Your Curls
If you’re anything like us, you probably teared up a little bit over that “Love Your Curls” video Dove released a few weeks ago. In case you missed it, the video features young girls talking about how they feel about their curly hair. Surprisingly, most of them tell they camera they hate it and are always trying to change it. Dove then surprises them with a party full of curly haired folk to show them they’re a) not alone and b) totally beautiful. We never thought we could get super emotional over curls, but that definitely just happened.
Since Dove’s ad launched, the Today show started a week-long series they labeled, #CurlPower. The morning talk show encouraged viewers to share photos of their locks using the hashtag and even invited experts to talk hair maintenance. The main goal: to convince curly-haired ladies to ditch the flat iron.
As you may have guessed, the photos that came rolling in were pretty much hair magic. The Today show’s weeklong campaign is now over, but the hashtag lived on and hopefully will continue to do so. Here are a few of our favorite snaps we found under the #CurlPower hashtag.
P.S @nothngtowear, if you’re out there, you just gotta let us know where to get that “Curl Boss” tee. It’s all kinds of awesome.
Do you have super curly locks? Take a picture with the hashtag and share it with us on Instagram!
