And the cherry on top? Itâs starring Bridgerton heartthrob, RegĂŠ-Jean Page. Not only is this a brilliant casting choice due to Pageâs magnetic on-screen presence, as we know from his previous work (Hello, Shondaworld), but it also just works due to the fact that heâs basically the male MC from the novel IRL. For those who havenât gotten around to cracking open this clever romance book, the story centers around Chani Horowitz, an ambitious journalist whoâs stuck writing âpuff pieceâ articles she couldnât care less about. When she was younger, she always strived to be the literary voice of her generation, winning Nobel prizes, Pulitzers, and Hugo Awards. And while her former University peers are currently being honored with literary praise, Chani is stuck writing lame articles that people forget about a whopping two seconds after reading them. Not exactly what she envisioned for her career path as a starry-eyed youth.
Yet this young journalistâs life flips upside down when sheâs assigned an opportunity of a lifetime: to interview her ultimate celebrity crush, the man who is her phone screen wallpaper, the heartthrob she canât stop daydreaming about, Gabe Parker.
In Funny You Should Ask, Chaniâs interview with Gabe Parker takes a rather⌠intimate turn. This slow-burn romance cackles and sizzles to lengths thatâll make the most seasoned romance readers blush. Who's in the Funny You Should Ask cast?
RegĂŠ-Jean Page (who's also executive producing) is in talks to lead the cast. What makes Page such a perfect casting choice to portray Gabe Parker is the fact that the book character is set to star as the new James Bond. Meanwhile, the Bridgerton actor is also being eyed as a contender for the 007 role, IRL. Funny how that works, isnât it?

When does Funny You Should Ask come out?
We don't have a release date yet, but considering the news was announcing in the 2025, I'm hoping to see episodes by the end of 2026.
I, for one, cannot wait for this televised adaptation of Sussmanâs Goodreads Choice Award-nominated novel, since itâs just so gosh darn unique and original. In a world where everything is either a half-baked revival (hi, And Just Like That) or a cash grab Disney remake, Funny You Should Ask feels like a completely original story.
