Happy Pride Weekend: Uber Is Offering To and From LGBTQ Landmarks This Weekend
After last week’s tragedy in Orlando, many businesses, celebrities and organizations have come together in support of the LGBTQ community. These actions are particularly important in honor of pride month and the one-year anniversary of marriage equality. In its show of solidarity, Uber is offering free rides to and from famous strongholds and safe spaces for the LGBTQ Community all weekend.
The offer is valid in 40 cities. In New York, for example, rides are free to and from the historic Stonewall Inn and several other gay clubs and bars throughout the city. In San Francisco, Uber users can get to Harvey Milk Plaza or Pink Triangle Memorial Park for free. From Detroit to DC to Los Angeles to Boston, Uber wants its LGBTQ users to feel safe and supported. In Orlando, the ride-sharing app is offering free rides to family members of the victims.
The free rides start Friday afternoon and go through Monday night. There is a limit of two people per ride and a maximum cost of up to $20 when using UberPOOL or UberX.
Happy Pride!
