Kourtney Kardashian’s super fit physique doesn’t come easy: She regularly works out, not only to maintain her shape but also to ease her anxiety. There’s one part of her routine that’s about as simple as it gets, however — her detox method.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star dished the dirt on her site about the one food she uses to rid her body of toxins, and you too can get your hands on it for about $4 (or less!). “I like to add steamed beets to salad and I always try to include fresh beets whenever I’m at a juice bar,” the oldest Kardashian sis revealed of the colorful veggie in her app.

Known as a superfood for its antioxidants and detoxifying agents, beets can be used to help boost the liver and can even help prevent diseases such as breast, colon, stomach, and lung cancer. There’s one catch, though: They need to be cooked properly. Steam ’em for more than 15 minutes, and you risk losing all those life-saving health benefits.

And with her leftovers, she’s even able to create a bit of DIY dye. “Since beets are highly pigmented, I use them as an all-natural dye when I make Play-doh for the kids,” Kardashian says. Sounds like even Mason, Penelope, and Reign get to reap those beet benefits.

As she is spilling about her beet habit, her sister Khloe Kardashian gave us a few tips for sticking to your fitness goals. One of the rules? “NEVER skip breakfast. You can’t drive a car with an empty tank!” she writes.
