This Is the Millennial Generation’s Number 1 Fave Restaurant
There’s no doubt that millennials are a generation of foodies. Appreciating everything from organic, local, GMO-free food to indulgence-overload Oreo bagels. From prepping our meals at home to enjoying a night out at our favorite restaurants, we certainly know how to live it up food-wise. But when it comes to our absolute fave restaurant to gorge at, you might be surprised. Frankly, it might be your parents’ favorite restaurant as well — that is, if they’re a fan of Red Lobster.
According to a survey by Nation’s Restaurant News, Red Lobster is the top choice among diners aged 18 to 24 for reasons including service, menu variety and “craveability” (yes, “craveability”).
The seafood chain, which has been around since 1968, has been keeping itself current in recent years by undergoing remodels, jumping on new food trends and embracing social media, although Red Lobster CEO Kim Lopdrup says that targeting millennials wasn’t exactly their aim, telling Business Insider, “We’ve just been focusing on making improvements overall.”
Intentionally bringing in the millennials or not, Red Lobster has seen a surge in popularity which has prompted them to continue to expand their menu to now include more wood-grilled items, larger shrimp and the scampi sauce made from scratch in-house. Mmm!
Another reason for the millennial love-fest could very well be the shout out the restaurant received from Beyoncé in her world-shaking Formation, which resulted in a 33 percent jump in sales the next day, according to Refinery 29.
Maybe the restaurant should consider renaming their famous cheddar bay biscuits, cheddar BAE biscuits ;)
