Spirit Airlines Cancels Flights, Fights Break Out, and Twitter Has a Hilarious Meltdown
Things have been pretty rocky in the world of airlines in recent months… and that’s putting it mildly. From United Airlines’ infamous violent treatment of a passenger to the scary scorpion incident and even poor Simon the giant bunny, it seems like things just can’t get worse. And then they do. Just ask Spirit Airlines, who had to cancel hundreds (!!!) of flights, which sparked actual physical fights in the airport. Whoa! Naturally, Twitter has had quite the (hilarious) meltdown over the entire situation.
According to CNN, the brutal incident started when customers not only faced lengthy delays, but were also left hanging after around 300 Spirit flights were canceled over the past seven days. Obviously leaving travelers more than a little peeved, things boiled over on Monday night when angry passengers “stormed off” a plane at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and “swarmed” the ticket counter. With dozens of people already in line and the throngs of angry de-boarders further crowding the packed space, things became a little scary as employees quickly lost control.
#SpiritAirlines refuses to compensate/schedule pilots fairly, pilots then won't work, choas ensues, blame pilots & customers. #capitalism

Air travel has become a highly degrading form of transport. The mess we witness is hardly surprising. #spiritairlines

Passenger Cindy Matthews Beard told CNN, “Everyone was already aggravated about flight delays and the ridiculousness of standing in such a long line for hours, which Spirit Airlines did nothing to help, and then in walks these people off their flight raising a ruckus (and) cussing and screaming and they went straight to the counter.”
When Broward County deputies arrived to settle things down, a struggle broke out as angry individuals were pulled aside, forced to the ground, and placed in handcuffs, with three passengers reportedly taken into custody. Whoa.
Though the incident sounds like it was pretty intense, Twitter is seeing the ridiculous (?) side of the situation…
